We were driving down the snow covered streets of the snow kingdom and by we I mean Scarlet, Kyle, and our new acquaintance Hex.
She sat beside Scarlet in the back seat, wrapped in a large, thin blanket that she had dropped around her like an animal skin. She had Scarlet's head drooped over on her shoulder as she sung quietly in her ear.
" Boys workin' on empty
Is that the kinda way to face the burning heat?
I just think about my baby
I'm so full of love I could barely eat
There's nothing sweeter than my baby
I'd never want once from the cherry tree
'Cause my baby's sweet as can be
She give me toothaches just from kissin' me
When, my, time comes around
Lay me gently in the cold dark earth
No grave can hold my body down
I'll crawl home to her."
I couldn't help but smile at the smooth tone of the song. Kyle was humming with Hex's sweet voice, accidentally getting louder as the chorus rolled in. When Hex realized we could hear her she stopped abruptly and looked of the window silently resenting the fact that her inner most thoughts were heard.
Scarlet slowly awoke from her slumber well rested and smiling.
"Guys I had the strangest dream. There was a land of luscious green grass and-."
"Stop the car," spoke Hex. She seemed to have the power to change the mood of the entire ride from peaceful to frightening in those tree words.
We were stopped outside a cave that seemed to be filled by a rock slide. Weeds and overgrowth seemed to take over the area. There was an eerie sense going about this place and frankly I was the exact same type of eerie that Hex seemed to be full of.
"How long ago was that attack that the mobs unleashed on the princess here?"
"Fourteen years," I said. I don't know what happened, but I could feel heartbreak. I could feel the uneasiness in her stomach as those words came out my mouth.
"I've been presumed dead for Fourteen years. I...I," she stopped talking.
Instead Hex opened the car door and approached the cave taking a huge whiff of the air most likely just needing some space. She gained some distance and without warning burst into flames.
Her flame was low and cool toned almost as if this was her way of crying. She fell to her knees and sobbed until her flame completely died out. She then rose, took another deep breathe and proceeded with life.
She walked back to the car and tapped on the passenger side window. Kyle rolled it down and blew a stray strand of her blue hair out of her face.
"You people have been nothing, but good to this lone soul. I'd like to thank you," said Hex as she leaned into the window and hugged Kyle, shook my hand, and gave a warm smile to Scarlet whom returned the same loving glance.
"So what now? We can't just leave you naked in the woods," I said.
"The human body is nothing to be ashamed of...unless you have insecurities," spoke Hex as she half heartedly laughed.
"Well it's awfully rude to kidnap people just for a car ride," said Kyle smirking and waiting for a kiss.
"Well would you prefer I kill you all and steal your souls like I did to your friends back at the lab?" Hex giggled as her eyes started glowing Enderman purple and her normal smile turned into a sharp toothed grin.
We all shook our heads and our hearts started beating like mad.
"Wow you guys are still afraid of me," Hex's human features returned revealing a puppy dog face that you couldn't help but break for,"that hurts. Well since you all helped me, I'll give you these." Three Necklaces with an Ender eye appeared from the flame she conjured out of the palm of her hand. We all grabbed ahold of one and thanked her.
"Why give us these?" Asked Scarlet who looked too fascinated by the new jewelry.
"You three are precious to me and I want to make sure that when you're in trouble I will be there to help...also one little thing," Hex leaned into the car and kissed Kyle intimately. Kyle didn't want to pull away and by the look of it I could tell a few thoughts were swimming around in her head.
Hex broke free and smiled. Kyle gently brushed her fingertips against her lips and blushed like a Yandere that just got kissed by Senpai.
"I can read emotions dear," hex backed away from the car and waved goodbye as I started driving away. I looked in the rear view mirror and watched as she smiled. An eerie voice filled the car. It was Hex's.
"Until we meet again my friends."
Now I know there are times that is said and people never meet again, but I had a feeling this won't be the last time any of us will see our friend from the Ender Portal.
