When I went into class Monday morning, everything was normal, except the pang in my chest at the sound of Harry's voice ringing in my ear. And then everything went downhill during demonstration with a dog who has a broken leg. When I looked up, I honestly thought I was hallucinating. Harry stood leaned against the doorway staring back at me and I jumped away from the table and ended up tripping over some of the equipment and falling. He looked different. Way different. He no longer had piercings, his face looked more stern and hard, and his hair was much longer, coming down to his chin at least. Everyone else just stared back at me and Maria bent down to help me up, but I grabbed her arm. "Am I seeing things?" I whisper to her and she glances towards the doorway and shakes her head.
"No. Get up." she whispers back and as Harry attempts to approach me, I scurry to my feet and pull the straps to my mask off my ears. "Caroline, please don't..." he stops himself and I glance at Stacy who was no longer instructing us. She looked kind of pissed off but she didn't say anything.
The closer he got, the more shaky I grew. I felt like a cowering dog. "Can I talk to you in private?" he asks quietly when he stops in front of me and I stare up at him, studying him. He looked worn out looking at him closely. His eyes looked kind of dull and the shadows under his eyes made him look like he hadn't slept in 4 days. But it was still Harry. Just 5 months older and more hardened out. His cheekbones were a little more carved and his jaw line was a little more angular. After all this time of trying to get him out of my head, and now matter how hard I was fighting to admit it right now.... he's still so damn perfect to look at.
"I'm in the middle of class, Harry." I whisper back to him and he glances over at the others who were staring and some giggling. "When will you be done, I'll wait." he says calmly and I furrow my eyebrows. He didn't sound very urgent.
"Class ends in about a half hour." I say to him and he bites his lip and looks around. This was extremely awkward. "I'll wait out front. Please come find me." he asks and I just raise an eyebrow and nod. He didn't sound like the Harry I knew, the cursing, screaming, angry Harry. He still wore his usual white t shirt that shown all his tattoos through it if you looked really close and black jeans. They looked a little tighter on him though. His shirt too. His arms looked a little bigger now to think of it.
The corner of his mouth acted as if he wanted to smile but it didn't form as he turned around and walked towards the door. I just watched in disbelief. He came back. Why would he come back? Why does he have to make things worse?
I walked back to the table and stared at the dog, but everyone just stared at me and I felt more and more embarrassed. "I'm sorry. Continue." I tell Stacy and she looks back down at the dog and continues talking.

Maria tried to talk me into willingly talking to him as we walked very slowly down the hallway but the more she did, the more disoriented I felt. "I don't want to." I shake my head and she pushes me towards the front door. Harry could be seen laying down on the bench with a leg hanging over and an arm over his head. Just seeing him made me nervous.
"Go!" she orders and I groan and push the door open. He heard the door close behind me and lifted his arm to see me before sitting up. I pull my cap off and start pulling my gloves off but before I could finish he stood up and pulled me in for a hug. I saw Maria through the window and she just smiles and motions me to hug him back. His scent was the first that hit like a brick. It sent every feeling and memory I've pushed out, back into my head and if he wasn't there to lean on, I would've collapsed. I swallow and manage to set my hands on the back of his shoulders but clenched my eyes shut when I felt the hard, defined muscle underneath.
