We finally made it. I was up and stable, headache gone. Dad had helped me out of the ship, despite my protests that I was fine. Bolt was the first to notice that we weren't anywhere near our home.

When he asked Mom about it, she said, "We're staying at your Uncles' until this is over... Or, mostly over. Once this dies down a bit, we'll go back."

"Wait. We're staying in a work shop?" I asked, imagining random machines and tools scattered everywhere on the floor, and us sleeping on it.

"It's not all workshop." Tails said. "That's in the back of the house. I built the front just in case something like this happened." He motioned for us to follow, and walked down a path.

It was at least a ten minute walk, and it was quiet. Bolt kept yawning though, and there seemed to be bags under his eyes. Dad had kept in the front, occasionally looking back at us to see if we were okay. To be honest, I was still trying to get to the new look. All the fur, the muscle, those big hands. It was like seeing a totally different person. In fact, I almost didn't believe Bolt about him being my father. The only thing that gave it away was his emerald eyes. And the shoes.

In the distance, I could see the house lights on. It looked like a two-story, with a chimney and made of wood. Almost like one of those cabins. It looked beautiful, especially with the trees and stars in the background.

We arrived at the front in a few minutes. Tails unlocked the door and let us in. I gasped. The living room was huge, with a rather large chimney in the front. The room itself was large and... Well, just think of it as a cabin.

"You built this...?" I asked in awe.

Tails chuckled. "Kinda handy with tools."

"He was always the science kid back then." Dad said with a grin. "Still is."

Tails showed us our room. The walls were a light blue, with a rugged, soft floor. The beds were made of the same wood as the walls (or it looks like it was) and had light blue sheets. I took the bed on the right, and Bolt took the one on the left.

"Night." Bolt said.

"Night." I replied.

And like that, we were out like a lightbulb.

Tails led us into the room across from Bolts' and Alices'. My fury hunk of a body slowly made it's way into the room. I was absolutely exhausted. The events of today had left me drained.

"Here you go, guys." Tails said, opening the door.

Amy gave him a small hug, and went in.

I placed my hand on his shoulder and smiled. "Thank you Tails." I said. "For everything."

Tails smiled and patted my hand. "It's the least I could do."

I rubbed his head, and went in. But when the door closed, I dropped to my knees and placed my head in my hands. "We tried so hard, Ames..." I croaked when I felt her hand land on my arm. "We tried so hard to protect them. Now, they'll always be in danger."

"Hey," Amy said gently. I felt her come around to my front and lift away my hands. Her small fingers curled my cheeks.

I looked up at her slowly.
