              Half an hour later Jamie stretched and finally spoke; “um, Jade… how long is it going to take to get all the way to Norfolk? “

I glanced at the built in sat. nav.  “About another… seven hours. “He groaned, so I laughed softly, “Hey this is the easy bit! You should be worrying about what we are going to do when we actually get there.”

“Yeah I guess… where are we going to stay?”

I shrugged, “I figured it should be easy to find a hotel room in the area.”

“oh… ok.”

              About three hours later I pulled into a service station. Jamie’s stomach had been rumbling for the last 15 minutes and it was beginning to drive me crazy. The woman at the till looked at us slightly strangely when I only ordered for him; raising her eyebrows as if to say well, are you not going to order anything?

I smiled tightly at her, “that will be everything thank you.” She stared at me for a moment before shrugging it off and going to collect his double cheeseburger and fries. Jamie grinned before leaning over to whisper in my ear;

“She probably thinks you’re a right stuck up cow on some fancy diet,”

A snort of laughter escaped my lips just as she came back earning me a dirty look, this only served to increase my amusement as I let Jamie thank her and tow me away.

              My mood further increased as Jamie didn’t even seem to notice her flirtatious smile as she tossed her blonde hair back over her shoulder in what she must have thought was a seductive manner. I couldn’t help smiling smugly as I slipped my hand through his on the way to our table in the far corner of the room.

              Once seated I idly stole one of his fries and chewed on it absently, just to give myself something to do. He frowned at me in mock anger,

“Hey! That was mine!”

I grinned wickedly “you have plenty more.” he continued to glower until a concerned expression crossed his face. After glancing around to make sure nobody was within hearing range he spoke;

“Anyway, while we are in this trip what are you planning to do about your… dietary needs?”

“I probably should have mentioned this sooner, but we are going to have to make a small stop along the way…”

“Where?”

“At a hospital.”

“oh…” realization flashed in his eyes and we lapsed into silence again.

              Around twenty minutes after getting back on the road we reached the hospital. I pulled into the car park and stopped the car. I glanced at Jamie,

“I suppose it is too much to ask for you to stay in the car?” wordlessly he grinned and climbed out. “Fine, but let me do all the talking.” I pulled out my black bag and led him towards the entrance.

              This was the last hospital we would pass on the way to Norfolk where I had a contact. I didn’t usually venture any farther East unless necessary so there was no need.

              It only took about five minutes to negotiate our way inconspicuously through the building until we arrived at the place where her office was. Or apparently used to be. I frowned angrily at the unknown name printed in the door; Jamie looked at me questionably, but I just shook my head and signaled to a passing nurse. I gave her a nice warm smile and used my politest tone;
