Peter saw Y/N, who was watching Wendy with despise. She was smiling and making him laugh, that laugh that belonged to Y/N. She, walking over to him, made his smile fade and his expression turn rather serious. He pulled her aside and took her hands, with sadness in his eyes.There was no more room for her in his heart, and it broke hers to hear that.
"Y/N," he said, looking at her. She had a feeling she knew what this was about. She had turned eighteen the previous week, and grown ups weren't welcome in Neverland. That's why Peter had to consume the heart of the truest believer, to stay young forever and not grow up. She didn't blame him, just wondered why he didn't choose to grow old with her in another land. But Peter was only after immortality. "I'm sorry," he'd said when he ripped out the young boy's heart and taken it for himself. "I'm sorry."
"I know," she said. But what she didn't know at the moment was, that it wasn't her age at all why he was sending her away. Oh no. Peter wasn't one to stay in a committed relationship, not for long anyway. It's not that he didn't love her, he just couldn't stay true with Wendy on the island.
"I'm sorry," he said yet again and saw the tears glimmering in her eyes. "Please don't cry."
She took a deep breath in, looking down. "Me too."
