Chapter 2

I'd been driving for almost two hours when I realised I needed gas.

During those quiet two hours, I couldn't help but cry a little. My only three friends dumped me on the last second when we had been planning this for over a month. I felt so alone, so empty. I'd do anything for a road trip buddy. Someone to keep me company, sing along to goofy songs with me. We'd just have fun together.

Not like that was going to happen.

It was only 10 in the morning so I was guessing not a lot of gas stations were open. Eventually I found one that opened at 11 so I decided to wait the hour. I had little to no gas left, I couldn't afford to drive anymore.

Half an hour passed and I was bored out of my mind. I decided to get out of the car to stretch when I found a store next to the station. I bought some snacks, went to the bathroom and when I walked out, a lady had bumped into me, causing all my snacks to fly out of my arms.

"Hey, watch we're you're going!" I yell as I bend down to pick up the snacks. "Well sorry, no need to be such a hoebag about it," The lady said. I looked up and see a girl with brown hair, brown eyes and sun kissed skin. (IF YOU GET THAT REFERENCE YOU ARE A QUEEN) But the thing that made my heart skip a beat was that she was holding gas in her hands.

"Do you work here?" I ask jumping up immediately. If she gave me the gas, I wouldn't have to wait another half hour. "Yes, I do. Why?" She says slowly with a suspicious glance. "Can I have that gas? I'll obviously pay for it, I just can't wait another half hour for the station to open up." The lady gives a smirk.

"Where are you going to?" The lady asks. "I don't even know your name, and now you're asking me where I'm driving to?" I say with a chuckle. "Colleen. Nice to meet you, guy who I don't know but is asking for gas," Colleen puts her one hand out for me to shake and I just say, "Joshua. But you can call me Josh if you want."

"Now, you know my name. Where are you going?" Colleen asks with a raise of her eyebrows. I sighed and decided to tell her. "I'm on a road trip. My buddies were meant to join me but they ditched on the last minute. So now I'm alone and my car is nearly out of gas so I'm here. Simple enough?" I snapped. I was tired and I just wanted some gas.

"Take me with you." I burst out laughing, "What?" She looked very annoyed at this point, "Take me with you on your road trip. Listen, I have a bucket list and I could tick a lot of things off my list if I go with you. And I will you give this gas for free. Unless you want to wait another hour for gas?"

"Another hour? But it says that you open in 20 minutes!" I exclaim. This girl was seriously annoying me now. "Yeah, but I might just ask my daddy if we can open a bit later," She says with a smirk plastered on her face. "But that isn't fair! We have to have a fair way to decide this," I grumble. "Fine. Arm wrestle," She puts down the gas and holds out her right arm.

"No, I'm going to beat you. That won't be fair," I say trying to think of another way to settle this. "Oh please, little boy. You're going to get crushed."

"One more time please! I wasn't ready that time!" I beg. "Face it, Joshua. I've beaten you at least 10 times. You can put the gas in the car, I'm going to go pack my bags." Colleen runs off and gives me a quick wink before running off round the corner.

So let's just try and get this straight. I'm about to drive around a girl I've only just met because she beat me at arm wrestling. Great.

Wow this was 705 words! I'm proud of myself :) I'll probably update again on the weekend :) AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JOSH AND RACHEL!
