Chapter 4 - Joachim does what is needed

Joachim had carried his future mate into the house and to his room. He was trying so hard to comfort her and find out why she was a lone cat at this age. He was trying to get her to calm down as well but all she seemed to be able to do was cry. Cry and say 'Mine' occasionally. Frankly he was starting to feel somewhat on the strangled side because she was clinging on so tight. "Hun you gotta let my neck lose or you might not have a mate for much longer." His hands were stroking her hair and back as he was talking. As his fingers slid across her skin he could feel the muted tingles from her and they felt so good. Until she was older that was all he would get from her would be that muted tingle.

Emma and the other two had been on the run from hunters and rogues for some time and it felt good to have someone she could hold onto. For the moment both she and her cat were to tied up in the feeling of safety that neither could really think of much. About the only thing they could think of was they had hopefully found a place they could live. The last place had been destroyed by the hunters and only she and the Panther had escaped. When they ran into the wolf it was obvious he was running as well. Because of that they all three joined together. It gave them a greater chance of surviving and finding help.

Joachim finally settled for simply laying down on the bed now that she had relaxed her grip some. Before he realized it she had fallen asleep and was starting to almost purr in her sleep. She was still clinging on to him but not nearly as much. *Dawn I am in my room. Please bring some food and clothing for my future mate. I would take care of it but every time I move she tries to throttle me.* There were too many complex emotions in his mental touch to really define what he was feeling.

She snorted when he said that. *Give me a few I am just getting the other two into a secure room.* That was an automatic response to having strange were's in the house. "Okay you two I am going to go and make some food. Here are some clothes and go take a shower by the time I get back. The room is a secure room which I am sure you expect. Once you eat then you might as well go to sleep. The soonest the Pride Leader or Alpha will be able to come and talk to you in going to be sometime in the morning." Dawn looked at the two to see if they had any questions. The clothing was generic shorts and a shirt.

Both changed and pulled on something to cover up with. "Ma'am where is Emma? I know she said that the Pride Leader was her mate but where is she?" Lydia had seen him carry the other girl into the house right about the time Dawn told them to follow Dawn.

"She is in a room next to Joachim's for the moment. She has finally fallen asleep though he told me to bring her some food and clothing. She is going to be fine and he will take good care of her." With that she closed and secured the door. One of the Pride was already there to stand guard. "Someone will be back with some food shortly."

She finally had the food done and sent one of the other females to the secure room. After grabbing the clothing she had picked out and the tray of food she headed upstairs. After quietly knocking on the door Dawn walked into the room and couldn't help but smile. The girl was still clinging on to Joachim like a cockle burr and he had a trapped look on his face. *Awe is the Pride Leader feeling stuck?* She couldn't help but tease him.

He frowned at her though when he spoke his voice was steady. "Thank you for bringing some food up. Give me a few minutes to wake her. I will probably leave her in your care since I need to check on some things." As he was talking he started stroking her hair and lightly jiggled a shoulder. "Hey there, Dawn brought you some food. Wake up and get dressed and eat. I have a few things to take care of but I will come back and check on you."
