Chapter Two

My life just got a whole lot interesting

I was pushed into the alleyway by the Purple Dragons.

"Hey little mousy, came out to play." One laughed and pushed me around in their little circle of flesh.

"Came to find your sister?" One of the others teased. I heard a growl that didn't come from me, but from behind a dark corner.

"Oi! Whose there!?" One of them yelled out. The growling grew more powerful, stronger, and louder. Two brown eyes appeared from the shadows. The men gasped and pushed me to the ground before scrammbling away. The eyes whimpered before backing up.

"W-wait." My voice came out as a stuttered, I sat on my knees and laid my hands on my lap, "I won't hurt you."

"B-but you'll be a-afraid of me." The voice quivered and the eyes teared up.

"No I won't, please. I want to see my saviour." My lips formed a soft, sweet smile. The eyes apporached slowly. A gray paw stepped into the sunlight, then a whole wolf-boy.

"S-see I'm hideous!" He cried out.

"No your not." I said and stared at him.

"R-really?" He stuttered and looked at me with hopeful eyes.

"Really." I comfirmed. He crawled closer to me and sat infront of me. "I'm Opal. What's your name?" I asked the boy who seemed almost my age, or older.

"I-I'm Jackle, but call me Jax." He said. His black nose on his long snout twitched, "M-my friends are looking for me I should go." He said and stood up.

"Can I come?" I asked and stood up as well.

He stiffened, "Um, I, I d-don't know." He said and looked at me.

"Please." I said and grabbed his soft furry hand.

"O-ok." He said.

He led me to an abandoned warehouse, and opened the door with a loud creak.

"N-now promise you won't scream." He said as he led me inside.

"Promise." I said.

He smiled and stood in the dimmly lit room, "Lucifer! Clancy!" He yelled in the warhouse. I heard two thuds behind me.

"Jax, whose this?" A deep voice asked. We bothed turned around and saw two boys our age. One that was a cockroach human hybrid, the other, a black haired boy with black cat ears and tail.

"Lucifer, Clancy, meet Opal. I met her today." Jax gave a nervous smile.

"Jax, you know we can't allow anyone near us exceptally-"

"If it meant they were indanger." Jax finnished for Clancy, "But she's different. She is kind and nice and-"

"Jax, our line of buisness would put her indanger. She will leave and never come back." Lucifer said strictly.

"Then we should stop what we're doing. She's different, I trust her." He said bravely and they stared at him.

"We can't put her indanger." Clancy said and stared down at him.

"If they find out that someone knows where we are, they'll kill her. It's are job to protect her now. If not, she could die." Jax said and stared back at them.

Lucifer glanced at Clancy, "Your call Clancy."  Clancy looked at Lucifer, then Jax then me. His brown eyes looked into my blue ones.

"We can't have her get hurt." He turned to look at Jax and pointed a finger at him, "If you ever do something like this again, your done for." He said then walked off. Lucifer turned and looked at us.

"Welcome to the team Opal." He smiled then followed Clancy.
