Chapter 33

Nervous. That's what I am right now. Prom is tomorrow. In exactly 20 hours. I still have no dress. I'm starting to think my 'secret admirer' really does want me to show up to prom butt ass naked. I mean who waits until 20 hours before one of the biggest days of a girl's life to send them a dress? Actually, who the hell picks a girl's prom dress? I swear if this is all a joke and I have to show up in something ridiculous, like a chicken costume, I will kill someone.

This is crazy.

Grabbing my keys and purse, I head to go get myself a dress. I'm not going to wait. Walking out the door, I trip over another small box with a black balloon tied to it.

Seriously?

I open the wrapping paper and read the note.

Dear Arielle,

Impatient are we? I know your freaking the hell out right now, but you will get your dress. At exactly 7:30 tomorrow night. DO NOT COME OUTSIDE BEFORE THEN. Giving you 30 minutes to slip the dress on and get to the dance. Sorry but I'm not giving you a chance to return it. Don't worry though, I know your style. Hopefully these will get you a little more excited.

See you soon Darling.

P.S. I really hope you don't change your mind.

30 FUCKING MINUTES? You have got to be kidding me. Don't get me wrong, it's sweet and adorable, but 30 minutes? That is insane.

Huffing, I go back in the house to open the box. I have to say, this is amazing. This guy really knows my style. Or at least I hope it's a guy. In the box lays a very gorgeous pair of black lace heels. I slip them on my feet and they're the perfect size.

This mystery guy is seriously a genius. How the hell did he know my exact shoe size? Does he work at a damn shoe store or something? I mean, that's kind of weird.

Prom night!

I do my hair and makeup myself. Layla offered to do it, but I told her I could manage. She's really excited about Seth finally asking her to prom. I was scared she would probably burn my head off with the curling iron.

Satisfied with my makeup and curls that go to the middle of my back, I go to the living room to wait on my dress to arrive.

7:29.

I've been watching the time tick by second by second. I haven't seen a single car pull up or anything. I swear I will castrate someone if this stupid guy doesn't bring my dress. You can't disappoint a girl on prom night. Unless you're in the movie, then you have some serious problems.

"Elle, what the hell is this huge ass box on the steps?" I hear Jace say coming through the front door. I jump to my feet to meet him at the door to see a huge wrapped box with yet another black balloon tied to it.

"It's for me." I tell him with the biggest smile on my face. I grab the box and run to my room.

I quickly tear the wrapping paper off the box and read the note.

Dear Arielle,

Since you're an impatient little thing, I'll make it short and sweet. Before you peek, there are some rules.

Rule #1: You have to wear this dress.

Rule #2: You have to wear the mask.

Rule #3: You have to wear the heels.

Rule #4: At exactly 10:55, I want you to go outside of the prom through the back exit. You'll see where you're supposed to go after that. Face away from the prom and no peeking.

If you break ANY of these rules, I will not show you who I am. And I really want you to know.

See you soon Darling.

Awh. This guy is seriously some kind of sweet.

I quickly open the box to see the most beautiful dress ever. A short laced beige and champagne colored dress with a black sash around the waist. It's gorgeous.

I slip on the dress and my shoes. I feel like a princess. I grab my clutch and leave.

They really went all out for prom this year. It's perfect. Two purple and black balloon columns connected with a huge Masquerade mask. I guess that's where he got the black balloon idea. Does that mean he's on the prom committee?

I put my mask on and go inside.

"You look gorgeous, Elle." Layla comes up to me screaming. The dress she bought looks great on her.

"So do you!" I try to yell over the music. The rest of the group looks great, especially Jace. He has a very nice suit with a champagne colored tie. Does that mean...? No way. Jace said he's never sweet. Would he really do all this for me? Looking at the other guys their all wearing champagne colored ties as well. Well damn. I guess it could be anyone.

I dance with the group for a while until I check the time.

10:58. Oh shit.

I find the back exit of the gym and see a candlelight path. Obviously that's for me. I follow it down, making sure to resist the urge to turn around. I feel like I'm being watched and I can't stand it. But, I was told no peeking. I get to a pretty big circle with candles and rose petals outlining it and stop. I guess this is where I'm supposed to wait?

"I knew that dress would look perfect on you, Elle." I hear a familiar voice breathe from behind me.

Instantly I feel a billion butterflies erupt in my stomach. Like a thousand fireworks going off at one time.

I turn around to the gorgeous guy in a small black mask and see him with brand new eyes.
