"What are you doing here?" Jacqueline asks.

"I could ask the same to you,"

"You're supposed to be at school! How the hell did you get out?"

"Uh–we, uh,"

"Well you sure as hell didn't get released!"

"We snuck out," I mutter, hoping she doesn't hear me.

"You what?!" She nearly yells.

"You don't get it," I push past her to use the restroom.

Once I came out of the bathroom, Jackie wasn't there and I know exactly what she's doing.

"Luke," I elbow him to get him to listen to me. "We gotta go."

"What? Why?" He says, taking a sip out of the cup in his hands.

"I just saw my step-sister and she's probably calling my parents to come find me. That cannot happen,"

"Uh, should we find Cal and Sara?"

"They can crash here. You can take me home,"

"Okay I'm gonna tell Mali to tell Calum that we're leaving. I'll meet you at the car,"

We make it back to Luke's house and crash on his bed.

I'm not sure what time it was when I woke up from a knock at the door, but I know it was way too early.

"What's going on?" Luke mumbles, rolling over in bed.

"Someone is knocking at the door,"

"Who is it?"

"If I knew who it was I wouldn't be sitting here right now,"

"Do you want me to answer it?" He questions.

I give him a look like 'you really asked that? of course'.

Luke sighs and pulls a T-shirt on before getting out of bed to answer the door. I follow behind him just in case anything happens.

Luke opens the door and who is there surprises not just me, but the both of us.

My mother.

"What are you doing here? It's the middle of the night!" I nearly yell but I remember that Luke's brothers live here too.

"Is this your mom?" Luke asks.

"Yeah," I groan.

"Sam, who is this?"

"Cut the bullshit–Maria. Why are you here?"

"Your sister told us that you were somehow home when you're supposed to be out of school in a year," She explains. "And stop calling me Maria. I'm your mother."

I never liked calling her mom because she wasn't a motherly figure. She treated me like shit, she never visited me at school and she sent me off without an explanation.

"You don't need to be here," I say as I reach my hand behind me to intertwine it with Luke's.

"Samantha–"

"Sam asked you to leave. She obviously doesn't want you here, so please get off my property or I will call the police," Luke cuts her off.

"You found yourself a boy at that school huh?" Maria scoffs.

"Leave," I say through gritted teeth.

"I'll talk to you later,"

"No you won't. I don't want to see you ever again,"

I slam the door shut, standing against it as I think about what just happened in the last five minutes.

"You good?" Luke asks, placing his hands on my arms, rubbing them up and down.

"Yep," I nod my head, plastering a smile on my face.

We walk upstairs back into Luke's room, flopping down on the bed.

"I love you," I mutter.

"I love you too,"

"If you ever wanna talk just know I'm always here for you,"

"Thank you, Luke," I lay down close to him.

"Now go to bed. We have a long day of nothing tomorrow,"
