I get home to a voicemail waiting for me. I already know it's the update. I've been expecting him, but the confirmation comes when I hear his lowly drawl ooze out of the speaker like melted butter. I can tell from the sound of his voice he's got a smile on his face the size of a freshly sliced watermelon and just as bright.
"Hey good-lookin'. It's me."
The arrogance, like he doesn't even need a name, like he owns everything on the planet, right down to the star-ratings in the App Store.
"You can now sort your reading lists,link and unlink your Facebook account, and when you're viewing comment replies in your story it no longer resets your reading position. Also squashed some bugs. You know, the usual."
He chuckles in the recording, and I bite my lip so I don't join him. Not that he can hear me now anyways. I can't help but admit it, once again, I'd be nowhere without this guy.
"See you in a few, starshine," he says before the message ends.
Yeah, yeah. He certainly will.
