[AN: Whew, I can't believe I made it through a chapter without breaking it up! Lol. I want to say more, but I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just set you loose and let you find out. So here's the new chapter, I hope you like it, feel free to vote, comment, message me, or just read!]
After a few moments of sitting in the hall and waiting with the dictionary in her hand, the door opened and she heard professor Xavier say mentally, 'we're ready for you.'
She set the book down and stood, walking into the room.
Wolverine was standing there, picking his teeth.
'Oh great, I hope I don't have to win a fight against him, I'll never graduate,' Kerri thought to herself.
The door closed behind her and the walls flashed into a jagged cliff face with plenty of places just wide enough to stand. There was a fuzzing and suddenly there were more Wolverines, lots of them, maybe more than a hundred, maybe more than a thousand.
'Oh shit, I'm screwed,' Kerri thought as her eyes widened.
"Don't worry, Kerri, you only have to find the real Wolverine," the Professor told her through the speakers. "Ready, and, begin," he counted down and suddenly the Wolverines lurched forward toward her.
"Ehh, uh, ibex!" She thought out loud as she turned, shifting into the brown-grey mountain goat and seeming to dance up the side of the mountain to her right, her now strangely shaped legs working their way out of the boots of her training outfit.
She reached a ledge that was far enough away to give her a minute to think, but the horde of Wolverines were close behind her. 'I don't stand a chance if I try to fight. I could try to show them something, and what ever one made the thing appear would be the real one. But the danger room creations have never had trouble seeing me...'
She jumped to the side as the first of the Wolverines reached her, but he grabbed her leg and pulled her to him, making her goat hooves slip from the rock.
Her face crashed into his leg, and she kicked out with all her might, flailing around and somehow slipping out of his grasp.
Kerri tumbled for a second before regaining her footing on the rock. She danced away and had another second to think.
The encounter she'd just had was strange, but she couldn't think how.
Then, a Wolverine popped up in front of her, out of no where, and she jumped back. She jumped on another's head as she sped away.
She'd gotten away from them, but, as she now realized, in her panic she'd run straight toward the first group of Wolverines who were making their way towards her from the spot she'd first been.
She turned on a dime by jumping almost completely around to face the way she had been escaping from, glad that she'd chosen the ibex for it's great footing on sheer cliff walls, and ran, moving up a little to avoid the second group of Wolverines.
She was running hard, but she was going to run out of cliff space, and running didn't help her to figure out which Wolverine was the real one.
She needed to get away from them for a moment, just long enough to think and come up with a plan, but she would be out of rock wall to run on in just a minute.
'Bird,' she thought. 'I just need wings at the end of the cliff.'
A thought burst her bubble, though, 'what if I turn into something that's brain is too small and I forget who I am?'
Her hoof almost tripped her as she stumbled at the thought.
She'd always been wary of turning into something too small, especially ants and other things with the "colony mind", for fear that she'd lose her sense of self and be trapped, after all, she'd never really played around with her powers and turned into random animals before.
