Kerri rolled over in her bed, squinting her eyes against the brightness of the sun. She didn't want to get up and have to think about Kurt and how she couldn't be with him, especially not at the dance, even though he'd asked her.
She rolled over again and pulled the blankets over her head.
Kurt was at the mall, he'd decided to go by himself to go to the tuxedo shop and pick out a tux. As he walked out, a couple of the other boys from the soccer team saw him, greeting him and walking up to him.
"Hey Wagner, what's up?" Andrew asked. "Finally decided to ask Lindy to the dance?"
Kurt laughed "No vay, man, I'm not interested in her."
"Oh yeah? Who's the monkey suit for then?" Gaffer asked.
"I have my eye on anzher girl," Kurt said.
"Yeah? Is it your cherry girl?" Andrew asked. Kurt just shrugged and gave a smile vaguely. The other two boys laughed in camaraderie, slapping him on the back and walking with him.
"Just don't Lindy find out, she'd go nuts!"
Kurt smiled and followed them away from the tuxedo store.
Kerri somehow made it through the whole weekend, although she didn't do much.
As she walked along the path towards the door by her locker, she heard footsteps and sped up to avoid capture.
She thought she'd out maneuvered Kurt, but as she put her back pack into her locker, a hand landed on the locker next to her and her eyes followed it up an arm, along the shoulder, past the pec and neck, across the nice mouth that she knew was warm and inviting, and into a pair of blue eyes.
"So," he started, but didn't say anything else. Kerri turned back to her locker and hurriedly took out the books she needed for her first classes. "Do you alvaways walk such a strange vay around to your house, or vas zhat just to stay in zhe car longer vizh me?"
'I just have to get past him,' Kerri thought. 'Eventually he'll get the picture and leave me alone.' Her heart broke at the thought. 'And then I can grow old, into the crazy cat lady, knowing that I sacrificed it all for the betterment of other's lives...'
"Do you need anozher ride home?" He asked. "You're getting quiet again."
Kerri took a breath, but then, of course, she could smell him, and she almost felt tears of longing prickle in her eyes. "No," she said with closed eyes. "I don't need a ride home; as I said, I'll be fine, I only live a little away."
"So do you go on a vild goose chase to your house vizh all zhe boys zhat give you a ride, or am I zhe first?" He asked suavely, and Kerri's breath caught in her chest as she turned away.
Yes, he was the first. Not only the first boy to give her a ride home, the first boy she'd had a real kiss with, the first she'd liked kissing, the first who'd sent shivers down her spine, the first who'd touched the bare skin of her side and back, his was the first hand that had touched other parts, he was the first boy she'd made out with, thought about going further with, thought about giving herself to.
He was practically her first everything.
She bit her lip, thinking that she'd never have him; she couldn't have the real him back, and this version of him, while still mostly him, just wasn't the same due to the difference of personality.
