Bailey paced across her bedroom. It had been a little over 14 hours since the thief's mask had been punched off of her face by the Nightingale, Summerlin City's resident vigilante. The blonde hadn't really cared when she's had to pepper spray the brown eyed woman a few times, there wasn't any harm in that. But now that she had seen Bailey's face, the blonde was almost 100% sure that the masked hero would show up at her apartment and drag her down to the police station. Hence the thief's fretting.

There was a knock on the door. Bailey froze. There was another knock.

"Bailey, it's me!"

She slumped in relief, going to unlock the door. The blonde smiled at the friendly face of Emerson. However, the brown eyed woman didn't seem to recuperate her enthusiasm. She held out the necklace that the thief had dropped during her fight with the Nightingale. Bailey's smile dropped instantly.

"How'd you get that?" the blonde pushed non-existent strands of hair out of her face.

"Why did you steal it?" Emerson countered, a sharp edge to her voice.

Bailey flinched, "How did you know about that? The only person there was..."

"The Nightingale."

The green eyed woman stumbled back as if physically struck, tears forming in her eyes. There was no way. Emerson couldn't be... She couldn't be her. How could she have been unknowingly dating the one person that could put her away in so many ways.

"And how do you think I feel?" Emerson's voice was uncharacteristically low, "You made me feel like a complete fool."

Bailey hadn't realized that she'd spoken out loud, but responded nevertheless, "I didn't know."

"Of course you didn't," the brunette growled, "you're just a cocky thief."

"I-"

"You can have the necklace if it means so much," the heroine shoved the necklace into the thief's arms before leaving in a trail of fury.
