You Can't

Today I realized
That you weren't right.
I used to see you as an authority, an elder,
But the past doesn't matter.
I used to aspire to be like you,
But you didn't do anything I want to do.
I used to be proud of having you as my idol,
But now I feel like you're my rival.
I used to need your assistance,
But who needs help from a person who can't listen?
I used to assume
That you could do something I couldn't do.
But now I understand
Why nobody likes you bossing everyone around. You just can't.
