Tale of War

When poetry and prose

Cannot be told apart,

The ones to live are those

Without a care, but with a heart.

I'm here inside all of the heat,

But I'm not here for you:

I lied about being able to face defeat,

But now, I guess it's true.

Fighting over all the lies,

We forget how to breathe.

And when your power dies,

You go and let yourself seethe.

We dream of sinful things,

Denying it in the day.

But forever, the memory rings,

Taking us all away.

I know that upon your arrival,

All your allies had died.

You might think of me as a rival,

But in this fight, I'm on your side.

So, dear liars, excuse me,

I have a heart to sell.

I know you're scared to lose me,

But I have to bid farewell.

And the graffitis said: "They'll get us

If we don't get them first."

We promised that they would regret this.

We knew that this war would be the worst.

They have started a bloody fight

Against what was but a windmill.

No one wants to die like a knight,

But they have to pay their bills.

Find the difference between blood and tears,

Come on, have fun, it's a game!

There are two rules: don't give into your fears,

And don't let them make you the same.

All your life, we've been nurtured.

Now we're afraid of being the last.

There is a void covering our future,

So let's talk about the past.
