What We Have Become

Call me heartless,

But no, I'm just tired

Of how they think about what matters

And tell us what to admire.

We could have been great,

We could've been respected,

But you're accusing the best people of hate

And now we're infected,

Infected by what they tell us

On the streets,

On TV,

In the magazines,

On the Internet,

Everywhere.

I'm started to get tired,

And now you're surprised

That I wanna run off.

Really? Please don't hurt my brain,

Not anymore, it's turning insane.

I'm not disrespectful,

I just don't belong here.

And the problem is not in this place;

It's in what this place has become.

We could be other humans of our race,

But we chose our false ideas of "homeland" over actual home.
