Toast grunted in surprise as Jimmy ran behind him, shielding himself from Aimee. He felt Jimmy's arms wrap around his waist as Ghost continued to laugh.
"I'm glad you're so amused." Jimmy hissed, glaring at Ghost. Ghost smiled, giving him a thumbs up. Jimmy rolled his eyes. Aimee looked at him, a large grin on her face.
"Well you are very cute Jimmy, but I have to go!" Aimee told him. Jimmy sighed with relief. The three watched as Aimee quickly ran away. Jimmy walked up to Ghost and whacked his arm.
"Sorry." Ghost giggled, ruffling his hair gently. Jimmy narrowed his eyes.
"Just remember that next time you need help, you're not gonna get it from me!" Jimmy told him sternly.
"Ok..." Ghost mumbled, pretending to be sad. Jimmy's eyes widened.
"You made him sad!" Toast exclaimed, trying not to smile. Jimmy's lip began to quiver. Ghost looked down at him, frowning. The room went silent. Ghost grunted in surprise as Jimmy hugged him.
"I'm sorry!" Jimmy cried, burying his face into Ghost's chest. Toast giggled.
"It's fine!" Ghost laughed gently, hugging Jimmy back. After a minute, the three heard a noise from the basement. Toast walked over to the door.
"Should I open it?" Toast asked. Ghost nodded while Jimmy shrugged. Toast slowly opened the door, peaking.
"Do you see anything?" Ghost questioned. Toast shook his head. They stared into the darkness of the basement. They waited, but nothing happened.
"It could've just be the house creaking." Jimmy told them.
"Maybe, but with our luck it could be something bad." Toast mumbled, keeping watch over the basement. Jimmy rolled his eyes. He pushed past them, walking down the stairs. Jimmy looked around. He turned on the lights. The room was empty.
"There's nothing down here!" Jimmy yelled. Toast gave him a thumbs up. Jimmy turned off the lights, then quickly walking up the stairs. Ghost sat on the couch, sighing with relief. He was surprised it turned out to be nothing. Toast closed the door to the basement. Nothing bad has happened in a bit... Toast thought, looking around the house.
"Toast? Hello?" Jimmy called, waving his hand.
"Yes Jimmy?" Toast answered, looking down at him. Jimmy pointed. Toast looked to see Ghost was now asleep.
"He's asleep again." Jimmy told him. Toast laughed quietly.
"Again?" Toast questioned, smiling. Jimmy nodded.
(2 hours later)
Jimmy was starting to get bored. Toast had gone upstairs, so Jimmy was all by himself.
"Always sleeping..." Jimmy growled to himself as he rolled up his sleeves. He jumped up on the kitchen counter, grabbing a knife. I haven't killed anyone in a while... Jimmy thought as he stared at the blade. He sighed, stabbing it into the counter. Jimmy hopped off of the counter. He quickly walked out into the side yard, climbing over the fence. Jimmy screeched as he fell off the top of the fence. He looked at his arm, realizing that he had earned himself a scrape on the elbow.
"Ow... well that sucked..." Jimmy mumbled to himself, frowning. He looked around the yard, gasping as he noticed something strange among the grass. It was a very small flower. He looked around to make sure no one was watching him. He stared at the flower with great admiration. Jimmy smiled, realizing that the yard was filled with the small white plants. Jimmy laid down. He hadn't felt this relaxed a long time. Jimmy let out a content sigh as he fell asleep.
(10 minutes later...?)
Toast was concerned. The house had gone completely silent since he went upstairs. There was no noise, not even footsteps. Toast got up, walking over to the door of his room. He looked, making sure nothing bad had happened. Toast walked down the stairs, realizing Ghost was still asleep, and Jimmy was gone. He poked Ghost's shoulder. Ghost opened his eyes slowly.
"Sorry to wake you Sir... but would you happen to know where Jimmy is?" Toast asked.
"He's not here?" Ghost questioned, sounding slightly confused.
"N-no Sir, he's not." Toast sighed.
"... I think he's somewhere near by." Ghost told him. Toast nodded. The two got up. They were about to go outside, but then Ghost noticed something. Jimmy was sleeping in the yard next to the house. Ghost pointed. Toast smiled.
"I feel that whenever he's in his kid form and we can't find him, he's most likely sleeping." Toast laughed quietly. Ghost nodded in agreement. They both looked at him. He looks so peaceful... Toast thought. Suddenly, the phone rang.
"I'll get it." Toast mumbled. He walked over, quickly picking it up.
"Hello?" Toast answered.
"Hi Toast... it's Gertrude... again." Gertrude mumbled.
"Oh hello! What do you need?" Toast questioned.
"Um w-well, I know it might be strange... but if you're able, can you send Jimmy?" Gertrude asked nervously. Toast eyes widened.
"... y-yes. O-of course. H-he'll be right over." Toast stuttered.
"Thanks..." Gertrude sighed. Toast hung up, still shocked at what had just happened.
"What's with that look?" Ghost questioned.
"Gertrude called... and she needs Jimmy." Toast told him. Ghost looked almost as shocked as Toast felt.
"O-ok... I'll go get him." Ghost mumbled. He got up, quickly walking out to where Jimmy was sleeping. Ghost lightly tapped Jimmy's side with his foot. Jimmy looked up at him.
"Whats up?" Jimmy asked tiredly.
"Well... this may be hard to believe, but you have a case." Ghost told him. Jimmy's eyes widened. His first (official) case.
