Toast sighed as he set the phone down. He looked over at Ghost, who was busy eating some weird thing he had found in the back of the fridge. Toast had told him not to eat it and warned that it would make him sick, but Ghost didn't listen.
"So... who was that on the phone? Spooker or Chris?" Ghost asked.
"It was just Gavin being idiotic again. There's nothing to worry about, Sir. So, what is that stuff?" Toast questioned, sitting down on the couch. He felt bad for calling his brother dumb, but that was the best excuse he could think of. Ghost nodded, looking back down at his plate. He took a bite of the hard substance.
"That's good I guess. So, I think this stuff is pizza, just freezer burned. Really freezer burned... and old." Ghost told him.
"I guess it's fine to eat then." Toast sighed. He looked around, wondering what Jimmy had meant. Jimmy sounded so serious. The house seemed pretty safe. Either way, he was still going to make sure Ghost was safe. He didn't want to get his head chopped off, nor Ghost's.
"Hey. Something's bothering you, I can tell. Please tell me what's wrong." Ghost begged. Toast watched at Ghost walked over to him, sitting down next to him. He shook his head.
"There's nothing bothering me, Sir. I'm just thinking about... things." Toast stated. Ghost frowned.
"Please don't lie. I don't like it when you lie. Tell me the truth." Ghost ordered.
"I-I'm not lying. N-not exactly." Toast stuttered, avoiding eye contact as he spoke. He jumped in surprise as Ghost poked his cheek.
"Are the guys gonna ambush us or something? Is that why you're so nervous?" Ghost questioned. Toast chuckled at the thought.
"I wish... fine, I'll tell you but you need to promise not to freak out. I'm not sure why, but Jimmy told me that I had to protect you no matter what. I've never heard him sounding so serious! He even threatened to cut my head off!" Toast exclaimed, making a chopping motion. Ghost smiled.
"That sounds spooky... but it's nothing we can't handle! We're P.I.E, we can handle absolutely anything!" Ghost screeched excitedly, jumping up and down on the couch. Toast laughed.
"Whatever you say, Sir." Toast sighed, smiling. Sometimes Ghost acted with such gusto, it was crazy to think that he had a killer in his head.
"So, did Jim-Jam say what the threat was?" Ghost asked, finally calming down enough to sit.
"Jim-Jam... oh. You're talking about Jimmy. Well he didn't specify, I'm afraid. But if he says it's a threat it's probably something pretty serious." Toast muttered, frowning. Ghost nodded in agreement.
"You know what, Johnny? I'm feeling very optimistic today! We're going to be alright." Ghost told him. Toast's eyes widened in surprise. Ghost was usually very pessimistic and grumpy, so seeing him so happy made him a bit nervous for... reasons.
"W-well, I'm glad that you're happy!" Toast exclaimed. Ghost let out a little sigh, resting his head on his shoulder. Toast blushed, slowly allowing himself to calm down a bit. He hesitantly wrapped his arm Ghost, pulling him closer. Ghost seemed to enjoy it.
"So... do you want to watch a movie or something?" Toast questioned, looking down at him. Ghost nodded, handing him the remote. They surfed through channels for a while when they found a scary movie to watch. Well it was supposed to be scary. Considering how they had seen all those things in real life, the effects were pretty bad. Toast sighed, allowing himself to relax completely. Everything was going to be alright.
