Charnae laughed at Leon as he got fussed at by Leanne. It was New Year's Eve and Leanne was about to go to work until she caught Leon's older teammate sneaking bottles of liquor in his trunk.

"I know you drink and shit, but don't be bringing that to my damn house. If it's for the little get together at Jalisa's house, then you should've had him take it over there!" Leanne said, referring to Faith's mother.

"Yes ma'am. I'm sorry, mama." Leon said. He wasn't really sorry. He just wanted her to shut up.

"Boy—I'll knock yo liver loose. Fix yo face." Leanne scolded. "Charnae is the designated driver. You better be on your best behavior."

"Yes, mama." Leon said, holding back his laugh.

"Whew, boy—let me go before I'm late for work. Y'all be good!" Leanne said as she headed towards the door.

As soon as Leanne closed the door behind her, Leon took the opportunity to talk shit. "She makes my ass itch sometimes, damn!" He said, making Charnae laugh. "It ain't funny, Quay. Let's get our shit together so we can go."

"Somebody's mad." Charnae teased.

"Leave me alone!" Leon shouted as he walked out of the kitchen to get his shoes.

A few minutes later, they left the house and went straight to Faith's house, which took ten minutes. They were the last two to arrive and everyone was ready to have a good time—especially Jordan.

"You having fun?" Leon said as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders from behind. It was about two hours in and he was clearly on the drunk side, but he was still his respectful self. Charnae was the only one who wasn't drinking because Leanne was depending on her to be the designated driver and she wanted them to get back safe.

Charnae smiled. "Yes."

"I'm drunk." Leon whispered in her ear. "I wish you could be drunk with me so you can see how I feel."

Charnae couldn't help but laugh. She found Leon to be very funny while under the influence. "I'm sure you feel great."

"The countdown is about to start!" Torah announced.

The group began to countdown from ten. They were all excited to start the new year. Everyone—except Charnae—was drunk and they were extremely loud as the continued the countdown all the way to one.

"Happy New Year!" They all yelled.

The couples shared their kisses, leaving Charnae and Leon standing there looking lost. Charnae looked over at Leon and stretched her arms out wide. Leon smiled as he accepted her hug, holding her close to his body. Charnae couldn't help but inhale his scent and feel at peace.

Leon sat in the library as he looked over his syllabus for his statistics class. He knew this was a hard subject, so he signed up for a tutor. They are in the second week of the spring semester and it was already starting to kick his ass.

He just finished his first tutoring session and it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. The tutor was a twenty two year old female who was in her senior year and she knew about the subject very well. She also made it easier to understand, so he knew he would be able to pass the class with a C at least.
