Koga-Ryu was established in the late 1600s. It translates loosely to 'school of Koga'. That's where prospective students went to learn the arts of spying and assassination. Some taken forcefully from their homes, some joined willingly and some did it for their families.

Koga-Ryu works in close association with the Kage no Sakuru, or the Shadow Circle.

The Circle came into full power after the second world war, when the demands for goods rose. The Shadow Circle itself was formed by spies and assassins, people who knew there was money to be made in secrets. Slowly it got more economical than it was. The Circle tied up with a few other close countries to form an order that presided over nearly all the criminal activity in Asia. That's why the five board members, the five people who run the Circle are from different nationalities.

They are very much like a normal school, except the curriculum is more advanced and more... diverse than normal schools. Of course, with time the curriculum is no longer what it used to be, but the essence of them were the same.

Choho: Espionage.

Boryaku: Military Strategy.

Taijutsu: Unarmed Combat.

Zanshin: Mental Awareness.

Kenjutsu: Sword art.

Ansatsu: Art of assassination.

Many of these teachings are lost to the greater part of the world. For most, Koga-Ryu is a myth and no real connection to the ancient school can be proven.

Unless you're part of the Shadow Circle, of course.
