Narrator's POV

"It's gonna be announced in two minutes!"

"OH MY GOD, WHO'S GONNA WIN?!"

"Duh, it's definitely me!"

"No way, Kris. Your drawing looks like a donkey!"

"WTF Xiumin hyung! I draw masterpieces unlike you, all day long working out-- but your cheeks still puff like baozis in that local Chinese shop!"

"Woah, okay there you two. You know that you guys aren't the only ones entering the competition?"

And the all the fuss was what Jungkook had to endure for the last couple of minutes before the announcement. He had to admit, his classmates were so loud it got onto Jungkook's nerves. Urged to shut the boys up but decided to calm himself, he tore a piece of paper from his Maths exercise book cause meh, who really liked Mathematics?

On the slightly crumpled piece of paper, Jungkook wrote,

"The only one thing that I want to win."

The portrait?

He wasn't really fond of joining initially, but seeing that Taehyung always encouraging and begging him, why not giving it a chance? But why would he wanna ask the latter when there were dozens of friends he could invite?

Thoughts now began to play in his mind.

Why did he ask me to join?

Did he perhaps ask Hoseok hyung to join too?

Maybe Seokjin hyung?

Why? Why me?

And with that, Jungkook looked at the paper below him and smiled.

"The only one thing that I want to win.

Is Kim Taehyung's heart."

Applauding proudly in his heart, he slipped the paper inside his bag and stood up from his seat to head over to the school hall for the announcement.

He'd always imagine how it was being in a relationship with the older. He knew that they had this "complicated" connection where the two of them would be lovey dovey at random times, then being childish just over small things-- wouldn't it be considered as a relationship then?

That's what Jungkook thought anyways. The fact that Taehyung changed after the day where they had a tiny accident in the cafe. Before Jungkook had even worked there, Taehyung was a complete different guy.

His eyes weren't as loving, his lips were always chapped, bruises and scars appearing almost every single time. To be frank, Jungkook thought that the elder looked lifeless overall. Heartless. But after when he met him, he became someone who was more loving and could accept realities. Staying away from bad influence. And it was all because of someone.

Jeon Jungkook. But he had never thought about the factor that caused Taehyung's difference. Deciding not to think deep about it, he shook his head off and came back to his senses.

Just before he left, a message came.

Excited for the results?

Kinda, but I'm more nervous. Excitement ain't beating me up enough.

Jungkook blushed furiously, shooting through the door so that no one would recognize his tomato red face.

But little did he know, Taehyung was at the verge of being in danger.
