"Goodnight Will, see you in the morning" Joyce gave Will a kiss on the forehead,
"And don't think about sneaking out of your room to open any presents in the night!" Jonathon ruffled Will's hair.
"Damn it!" Said Will with a smile. He gave them all a hug good night and headed towards his room.
In passing, he looked across at the dint in the wall - caused by the back door being violently swung open, then he turned his head up and saw all the nails in the wall which were being disguised by cheerful Christmas decorations. He stopped, rubbed his eyes and proceeded down the hallway to his room.
He opened his door and flopped on the bed. Laying there, he closed his eyes and listened to the rain bouncing off his roof. As he was doing so, he felt his eyelids become heavy and his muscles relax - he was about to fall asleep until you coughed to grab his attention.
"You're not falling asleep without saying goodnight are you?"
Will looked over the side of his bed to see you snuggled up in a sleeping bag, with various other blankets and a couple of pillows. You borrowed some of Will's old Pj's - the blue star ones - and you had tied your hair back with a brown scrunchie.
"So you can interact with other objects and not just me?" Will asked, with a slight comical tone in his voice.
"Ha, ha. Yeah. I hope you don't mind?" You looked up into Will's tired, red eyes.
He shook his head.
Will sat up, stepped over you, and crossed to the other side of the room. He picked out a pair of black, fluffy bottoms and one of Jonathon's old shirts - which swamped him immensely. He proceeded to get changed behind his wardrobe door whilst you stared at his "Jaws" poster.
Once he had gotten back into bed you two both lay there and stared at the ceiling in complete silence, listening to the rain. The sound off it seemed to create different patterns, trickling noises, big splashes, little drops cascading and hitting the roof.
"So," You said, starting conversation, the newly spoken words felt odd and out of place against the silence. "Am I right in thinking that it's Christmas tomorrow?"
"Yeah, you might have to stop me from sneaking into the living room in the middle of the night" Will said with a chuckle.
"I will be able to now that you can't actually walk through me anymore!" You retorted.
Will smiled at the statement, although you weren't able to see this through the darkness. The only light was a soft blue glow coming through the curtains. You both proceeded to lay in silence, again. You stared at Will's clock which read 11:11.
"Will, it's 11:11 make a wish!" You closed your eyes and tried to think of something, and what you wanted came to mind straight away.
"Aaand done! Have you made a wish Will?"
He nodded "Yup, what did you wish for?"
Your face dropped, not wanting to say. Thank god he couldn't see this.
You didn't want to lie to him, it wasn't something that friends do - so you just remained in silence.
"(y/n)? Are you asleep?" Will sat up quickly and peered over the edge of the bed, hovering right in front of your face.
This startled you and pulled you out of your daydream so quick that it could've given you whiplash. You ended up screaming and hitting Will on the nose.
"Oh shit, i'm so sorry Will! You made me jump, are you okay?"
"Ouch.. yeah, i think so.."
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Will was reading "Pet Sematary " by Stephen King. After you hit him on the nose things kind of went quiet, so he started reading and you started staring - at the ceiling. The rain was still going strong, and showed no signs of stopping. You finally got up the courage to speak again. So you sat up, lent across Will's bed and whispered:
"Hey, what are you reading?" Your heart was pounding, waiting for the response. Was he really mad? Or was he just tired?
Will sat up and spoke, "Oh it's this book I got for Christmas," He showed you the cover, "I'm allowed to open one present on Christmas eve so I picked this" He smiled at you. Thank God everything was okay.
Will yawned, marked his page and closed his book.
"Hey look!" Will pointed to his clock, "It's 4 minutes past midnight, Merry Christmas!"
"Yayyy!!" You yawned and rested your head on Will's bed.
"Oooh, your bedsheets are lovely and soft man," You ran your hands along them.
Will laughed "Thanks, i just had them washe-" At this point Will started to cough again. You sat up straight away and watched.
"Will?" His coughing continued so you climbed onto the bed, sat next to him and started patting his back. But it wasn't doing any good..
"Shit" You stood Will up, wrapped your arms under his rib cage and started to squeeze repeatedly.
After doing this about five times Will finally coughed up the slug, it flew onto the floor and started to move away. You grabbed a tissue from the side, picked the slug up and placed it on the window sill - with the window open. You snatched a bottle of cleaning spray - which Joyce had left in here earlier, and sprayed the slug repeatedly until about half the bottle had gone and the slug was starting to dissolve. You held the edges of the tissue up and chucked the slug out of the window and onto the muddy grass below - trying not to gag whilst doing so.
You slammed the window shut and took a big breath in and out.
You turned around to see Will sat on the edge of the bed. Crying. You felt your heart shatter looking at him like that, you sat back down on the bed and moved yourself next to Will. Wrapping your arms around him you placed his head on your shoulder, stroking his hair.
"Will man, please don't cry. It's gone now you're safe, you're okay" You were trying to make sure you wouldn't get choked up as well, but hearing Will's sobs were making it difficult.
You sat there until it was nearly one in the morning hugging Will, trying to calm him down. At this point you really wished your 11:11 wish would come true.
