Will watched you fall helplessly, he watched your tear stained face grow smaller, moving away from him.
Until you stopped.
Bones broke into thousands of crystallised pieces, brain bruised and battered, hearts shattered.
He could do nothing but stare at the ripples in the water.
"Will.. put your feet a-against the wall and walk up... w-we'll pull you" Mike instructed, his voice was barely a whisper.
Will did as he said, but his eyes remained locked on the water.
Dustin and Lucas put Will's arms around their shoulders once he had climbed to safety, they sat him and themselves down by the wall - far away from the edge.
Mike just stood at the top. Looking down. His hair was blowing in the wind and tears were streaming down his face.
Dustin stood up and walked over to Mike, he put a hand on his shoulder.
"Come on.. w-we need to get down there" Dustin steered Mike away from the edge and over to his bike.
The three boys sat on their bike's, Will on the back of Lucas', and they headed down to the bottom of the quarry.

I feel so numb, we could have tried harder to save her... Yes, the ground was slippy but if we just tried harder. God, I just witnessed her death. I barely even knew her, why didn't I take the time to get to know her? How's Will going to cope now? We can't help him, (y/n) knew him the best. If only I tried harder, I could have easily calmed Will down and tried to persuade him.

I must be dreaming, that happened all so quickly - it can't have been real. I have not just seen her die. Mike and Will look so broken, they knew her the most- How are we going to get over this? Mike's lost two people now.. in the space of three months. This isn't fair. I'm one of the strongest here, I could have done more to help pull the two of them up.

She can't be dead, there must have been some way around this. No, Mike, this isn't a movie! She's gone and so is El. Just forget it. No, you can't forget it. You need to face this. But I just want to go. No, you're not going to - be there for Will. You heard what she said. God, if only I protected her... She would be okay... I could have stood in front of Will - I could have saved her.

This is all my fault.

The four boys made their way to the bottom of the quarry, the last time they were here was when the police had uncovered "Will's" body.
They pulled their bikes to a halt and climbed off, they could still see the faint ripples and bubbles in the water.
"We need to do something, we can't leave her in there it's not right.," Mike said.
"... How are we going to get her out then?" Dustin asked.
"W-we could call the police and say that it was a suicide?" Lucas suggested.
Will stood to the side against the tree, not wanting to hear any of this.
Mike ran his hands through his hair, trying to think of a solution.
"How deep is the water?" He asked.
"No way are you going to swim in there Michael Wheeler, it's far too dangerous" Dustin ordered.
"Well what can we do?! The longer wait the more difficult it will be to grab her out of there!" Mike shouted back.
