Your POV

After calming Dan down, you continue walking back to his apartment. The conversation between the two of you not as lively as it was. So, as you walk together in silence, you ponder about 'Phil and Polly'. Questioning if it's real or not; however, it being fake seems unrealistic since there's no reason to fake a relationship.

Then, a droplet hits your nose, another hits the top of your head. Rain starts pitter-pattering on the pavement. You glance over to Dan as a smile breaks out on his face. You smile in return and he looks at you to notice your lips are a bit blue from the cold. He takes off his big, long rain coat and drapes it around your shoulders. He keeps an arm on your shoulder for a few seconds before letting it fall off so he can fix the red collar of his reindeer Christmas sweater. You tug a little at the corner of his sweater to straighten it up. Then, you run your fingers down his arm and grab his sweater paw in your hand.

-

You arrive at Dan's and he starts to unlock the door to the building. His back is drenched from rain and his hair is the curliest you've ever seen it. You curl your finger around one lock and Dan huffs.

"Stop." He groans, but you can tell there's a smile on his lips. You keep playing with the curl just to annoy him and he finally unlocks the door. Both of you trudge up the flights of stairs until you reach his apartment.

"Hurry up, I'm freezing to death." You complain whilst shivering.

"What are you on about? I gave you my coat. It would have been warm."

"No, it was cold since you're dead on the inside." You laugh and he shoots you a glance of disapproval. Once you're in his apartment, you run up the steps, knocking Dan out the way.

"Excuse you."

You ignore his sarcastic retort and continue rushing to the fireplace. As soon as you get there, you sit in front of it and press the red button in the top right corner. Luckily, the fireplace didn't explode, instead it turned on as usual - the flames calmly wavering.

"Y/N? Where the heck did you g-" Dan spots you on the carpet rubbing your arms up and down. "Hold on, I'll be back." You hear Dan run down the hallway, only to come back a few seconds later with a massive fur blanket. He attempts to put it on your shoulders but his lanky awkwardness forbids him to do so, making him take forever to unfold the blanket.

"I'll take it, it's fine." You grin. "Thanks."

A corner of his lip rises in a small smile and he gives you a wink before running out the room again. You wrap the large, soft blanket around you and close your eyes. After a while, you hear Dan's footsteps as he enters the room once more.

"Come on." He starts and you quickly turn your head towards him. "Get off your ass. Let's make a blanket fort." He throws a bunch of spare bed sheets onto the sofa.

"How romantic." You snicker as you get up.

"That's what I was going for." He replies and gets out his phone, to play some music. He then puts his phone down on the dining table and leaves to get some brooms and sticks.

-

"Watch your foot- Argh, Daniel, look what you did."

"I'm sorry that I'm a poor excuse of a human."

-

"Well, putting that chair there was a complete disaster."

"Just like you."

"Wow Y/N, how original."

-

"Honestly, you're so useless Y/N."

"Shut up."

"It's easy, just gently lay the fairy lights dow- for fuck's sake."

"Shut up."

-

After a long time, the two of you finally manage to set up an okay-but-not-great-but-kinda-pretty-but-kinda-sad blanket fort. There's brooms and chairs involved to prop it up. On one corner there's a bucket because you had nothing else. On the roof of the fort are some dainty fairy lights. Inside are a whole heap of pillows, blankets and food. And lastly, Netflix is open on the TV. There's also a hard drive with a bunch of legally downloaded TV shows and some anime from Crunchyroll.

"Nice work." Dan nods with his arms on his hips. He holds hand up to high five and you happily high five him back.

"Now, how do we get in it?"

-

Both of you lie on your stomachs as you watch a movie. It's not even halfway through yet most of the snacks are gone.

"Can you pass me the Maltesers?" Dan asks. You don't respond, instead you move them further away. "Mate." He complains. He pushes himself up a little and reaches over you, trying to grab the bag, you nudge them away once more. Dan stretches even further and shifts his leg to get more distance, but then that leg hits a broom. The broom falls and the blankets near it sink, another broom falls, followed by more. "Oh, diddly heck."

"Good job, Dan." You face him with a sarcastic look as the blankets form around you. He just rolls his eyes.

Unable to resist, you shuffle forward and peck him on the lips. As you move back you notice him somewhat in shock, the light from the creamy-coloured fairy lights bouncing off his eyes in bewilderment. His expression quickly fades as he goes to kiss you again.

All you can sense is Dan's lips on yours, the piles of blankets resting on top of your body, the movie softly playing in the background and the rain pitter-pattering on the windows outside.
