I leaned on the sink counter while waiting for Tina to pick up my call. Kagabi pa ako tumatawag ngunit hindi nila sinasagot ni Papa ang cellphones nila. I'm getting more and more worried about them but Hank assured me that some hunters living in Astrid has confirmed that they are safe.

"Thank God, you finally picked up your phone," bungad ko kay Tina nang sa wakas ay sinagot niya ang tawag ko.

"Sorry. Na-stuck kami ni Tito Theo sa loob ng UCH. They had us escorted to the headquarters for some investigations."

Kumunot ang aking noo. "Investigations para saan?"

She sighed. "Rouge went missing and the ICU was a total mess. Noong umakyat kami ni Tito Theo ay wala na siya sa silid. The window was broken, too so I alerted the UCH before someone reports it to the police."

Napakurap ako. "You mean someone took Rouge?"

"We still don't know, Tracy. Wala ring sagot si Tito Theo sa mga tanong ko. I don't know if he's clueless or he's trying to hide something from me. What I do know is he's gonna find Rouge with my Dad. I think they'll go on a little hunting trip with some of their friends."

Hindi ko alam pero kinabahan ako sa ibinalita ni Tina. If someone took Rouge then maybe he's in danger. I should tell Levi about it. Baka may sagot siya tungkol sa nangyari.

I heard a knock on the door. Nagpaalam ako kay Tina at sinabing tatawag ako ulit mamaya. Nang naibaba ang phone ay lumapit ako sa main door upang tingnan kung sino iyon.

Hank's wide grin greeted me. "Good morning!" He showed me a basket of freshly-baked breads. "Pakape naman bago tayo pumunta ng Crescent."

Napakamot ako ng sentido. "But I don't have any groceries here yet."

He clicked his tongue. "Oo nga pala. Kina Alpha Pierre na lang ako magkakape. Tara?"

Tumango ako. "I'll just get my bag."

Pumasok ako ulit at kinuha ang bag ko pati ang aking cellphone. I locked the door and walked with him to his car. Ipinagbukas niya ako ng pinto sa shotgun seat at hinintay na makapasok nang siya rin ang magsara no'n.

One thing I noticed about Hank is his chivalry. Siguro kahit sino ang makakita sa kanya ay hindi aakalaing Beta siya ng lugar na ito. I mean, a Beta is basically the second in command in a pack, right? He's supposed to be scary not soft.

"Hank?" tawag ko.

"Oh?" sagot niya habang iminamaneho ang sasakyan.

"How come you're a softy? Hindi ba required sa isang Beta ang maging matapang?"

Ngumisi siya. "Saan mo naman narinig na required na matapang ang isang Beta?"

"Well, you're the second in command. Hindi ba ay dapat istrikto ka at kinatatakutan?"

"Tracy, pinipili ang Beta base sa lakas at husay niyang mamuno kasama ang Alpha. Pinili kami ni Levi dahil kaya niya kaming asahan. We think the same way, decide the same way, so even on his absence, he knows Astrid Pack can survive. It's not all about physical strength. If you don't have the brains and the leadership skills, you'll end up putting the pack in danger. Our wolves are aggressive in nature. Betas should know how to tame our wolves and only unleash them when needed, kaya mas kailangang matalas ang isip ng isang beta, hindi lang basta malakas o matapang."

Napatangu-tango ako. "If a Beta is expected to lead by the Alpha's side, what about a Luna? Display?"

He scoffed. "No, no. Kung tutuusin ay pangatlo lamang ang Beta sa pinakamahalagang myembro ng isang pack. A Luna is the Alpha's female counterpart. You guys should be in synced. The Alpha is the fierce leader while the Luna is the compassionate one. A Luna must submit to her Alpha without letting him walk all over her. After all, the Luna will be the Alpha's greatest anchor whenever his wolf becomes too aggressive. Out of all the people in the world, the Luna is the only one who can tame the Alpha's wolf because her soul is tied to his."
