Kabanata 25

Tracy

"Did you get it?" bungad ko kay Tina nang makabalik siya ng Astrid.

It took her a couple days to come back so I was hoping that she found anything that will put my mind to ease.

Something is telling me that the photo can help me connect a lot of dots that don't really make sense to me right now.

She showed me the envelope. "There's not that much to see in case you're expecting a lot."

Kumunot ang noo ko. "What do you mean?"

"They don't have that much record. Ang meron lang ay 'yong sa hospital, sa work, but according to the data na nakuha sa trabaho niya, he didn't have any previous jobs."

"What about sa university?"

"That's the thing, Tracy. His documents have been missing since he had his accident so hindi natin malaman kung saan ba siya nag-aral noon. We don't really know kung taga-saan ba talaga sila. One more thing." She held my arm. "Go check his documents from his job that I was able to steal."

My heart pounced. I know her well.

I breathed in a sharp breath before I finally pulled out the papers inside the envelope.

"That's his medical exam," Tina said.

"Uhm, and?"

She pointed something. "He has a dormant LX blood cell. He knew all along that he's a lycan with a dormant wolf."

My blood ran cold. LX is a type of blood cell that can only be found in a lycan's body. It mixes with their red and white blood cell. It's the very thing that helps their bodies heal faster than a normal person's.

"Then there's really a possibility that Rouge had only used me.

"What is it?"

She was about to tell me when we heard knocks on the door. She immediately went upstairs to hide it while I went to the door to see who's knocking.

Levi smiled before he held me by my lower back.

"Hey," he greeted before planting a tender kiss on my lips.

My heart warmed and I suddenly felt safe as if my body knows Levi will always lay down his life to protect me.

"Ang aga mo," I said after receiving the flowers.

"Your Dad said you're gonna learn how to use a crossbow. I don't wanna miss it."

He flashed a half smile. "You're more important than everything else." He slowly caressed my arm down to my hand until he finally held it while staring into my eyes. "How are your memories?"

"Malabo pa ang karamihan." I sighed. "I'm sorry."

"It's okay." Marahan niyang piniga ang palad ko. "You're already remarked. Your memories should come back faster now. Give it a week, luv." He looked inside the house. "Can I steal you for a minute before your dad comes back for your training?"

Bahagyang kumunot ang noo ko. "Para saan?"

"I just wanna show you something."

"Uhm, okay. Magpapaalam lang ako kay Tina."

He jerked his head.

"Ti?"

She looked at me worriedly.

"Tracy, look. Hindi ko napansin kaagad but . . ." She showed me one of the papers. "Do you think he knew that we're gonna gather info about him?"

It's his handwriting and it says, "meet me at your furniture shop on the night of our anniversary. I will tell you everything you need to know. He's a murderer. Do not trust him."

. . Levi kaya ang tinutukoy niya?"

"Is Levi a murderer?" Tina asked.

"I . . . don't think so. He's an alpha. Hindi siya basta-basta lang papatay, hindi ba?"

Tina sighed. "Yes, 'yon din ang alam ko. Maybe Rouge was just playing with your head. Make you lose faith in your mate. After all, if Levi is really a murderer, then his people wouldn't have that much respect for him, right?"

A part of me wanted to go and ask him what's really going on with him.

"Trace? Please tell me you're not considering the idea of meeting him," ani Tina nang makahalata.

I sighed. "I do but . . ." Nilunok ko ang bara sa aking lalamunan. "Only because I am not yet a hundred percent convinced that everything he showed me was a lie."

"Why? Because you're still in love with Rouge, hmm?"

There, I saw Levi standing outside the door with a darkened and obviously jealous expression.

"L-Levi . . ." Nanlalamig ko siyang pinakatitigan. "It's not what you think. I just--"

"You still wanna believe that man, Tracy? You're about to enter a union with me but you still consider seeing him because you still have some fucked up faith in him?"

I inhaled a sharp breath as I clenched my fists. "Hindi ko alam, okay? Maybe I'm really bad at this because I am still human and I still tend to give people the benefit of the doubt when I've known them for years."

Gumalaw ang kanyang panga. "You don't know him. Everything he showed you was nothing but a fucking lie."

"And how did you really know that?"

"Because he's my cousin and he hates you as much as he hates me, Tracy." His eyes darkened. "Still wanna know why?"

Nanlalamig ang mga palad akong lumunok. "W-Why?"

His jaw clenched as pain registered in his eyes as if he didn't really want to tell me the truth but he's being forced to.

Levi inhaled a sharp breath before he finally dropped the bomb that triggered a painful memory.

"His parents died because of the two of us, Tracy . . . and he swore to make us pay someday . . ."
