The peace didn't last long. We were startled by hearing that Japan had invaded Hawaii. Hawaii. The next step to the coast. We needed to make a break for the US. Everyone moved in a blur. Ships were refueled. Guns were reloaded. Planes took to the skies. In the back of Riptide, there is a large open space used for cargo. There was a loading ramp with tanks and ammunition, but also a B-24. It was Glory. I ran over to see what was going on.
"Maggie! What are you doing?" I yelled.
"The carriers are only taking fighters. But I'm coming along!" She replied.
I ran to the cabin and waited to start the engines. When the order came, I didn't hesitate. A few hours ago I was with my friends and staring into the night. Now was war.
