Chapter 2

Leo's POV

Flashback~~

     It was the second week of school and I was in my junior year in high school, and I had just started attending Goode High. I lazily got ready for school, not really paying attention to what I was doing. It ended up that I threw on a shirt with black grease stains on it, and I put my shoes on the wrong feet.

     I kissed my mother on the cheek as she stirred something in her pan as I ran out the door.

     "Que tengas un buen día!" She called out to me. (translation: "Have a nice day!")

     I had just barely caught the bus as the last passenger walked in. I darted to the doors, just as were about to close. Luckily, I had just slipped in easily, with my slim body, through the doors.

     "Oo, swag." I said.

     The bus driver rolled his eyes and put the bus on drive. I almost fell over when the bus started moving, but I managed to grab a railing, and then I sat down. I looked around at my peers. Most of then sat towards the back; listening to music, gossiping about people, and throwing pieces of crumpled paper at each other. Then, I noticed a dark figure sitting in the very last seat in my row. He had messy, jet black hair that covered his eyes, pale skin, and he was dressed in all black. He kept his head down, arms crossed. I've never seen him before, me must've been new. Mysterious, so to say, but I somehow wanted to find out more about him.

     I walked into the school building, heading to my first period, algebra. Man, I hated that class. All these numbers and letters jumbling all over the place. It was hard for me to focus, due to my ADHD. All I wanted to do was build and tinker with stuff. I'd always tap my pencil on my desk or bounce my leg up and down continuously. Whatever it was, I couldn't stay still.

     "Hey man." It was my friend, Percy.

     "Hi." I said, giving him a high-five.

     Then, Mr.Mysterious walked into the classroom. He walked to the teacher and they exchanged words quietly. The teacher then pointed to the desk in front of me. He walked over to the desk, setting his backpack onto the floor next to him.

     "Woah, Nico? Nico di Angelo?" Percy asked, sounding totally surprised.

     The boy, who I now know is named Nico di Angelo, turned around to meet Percy.

     "Jackson?" He said.

     "Woah, man! Long time no see!" Percy held out his hand for him to shake.

     I stared at Nico, watching him grip Percy's hand firmly. I noticed his eyes, his beautiful eyes, were a deep shade of chocolate. He was about my height, 5"11, and he was very skinny.

     Nico noticed that I have been looking at him, so Percy kicked me in the shin, and I snapped out of it. "This is Leo. Leo Valdez." Percy introduced me. I shot a quick smile and Nico smiled back. Boy, did this man have a smile.

     First period dragged on, and so did second, and third. Finally, LUNCH TIME!! I sat with Thalia, Piper, Percy, and his best friend, Annabeth. At least I thought they were best friends. They were so close that mostly everyone thought they go out. But they both insist that they're just friends.
