I tossed my phone on the bed side table and turned it on do not disturb. Granted she'll probably come over here in an hour or two, but that's okay. I played some music quietly and started painting.

"Joshua William Dun." She said as she came in my room. I paused my music and looked at her.

"Go ahead. Yell at me. Slap me. Break up with me." I said calmly.

"Why would I do any of that?"

"Because you got mad when I wouldn't have sex with you. And you left. You just fucking left after trying to take my clothes off."

"Yeah, I was a little mad, but I'm not gonna break up with you."

"What about that guy that was chatting you up the whole night?"

"I never saw you downstairs."

"I stood on one of the stairs. Every single time I went down there, you were giggling at one of his jokes or touching his arm or letting him touch you." I said. I was trying to be quiet because everyone was asleep and I didn't wanna wake them up. But I was getting mad. And quick.

"Josh, it was nothing."

"Yeah. Cause you flirting with another guy is nothing." I grabbed my bag and left. You may wonder why I have my bag with me at all times. It has everything I need in it; food, water, keys, phone and charger, money, sketchbook, pencils, and my wallet.

I just started walking and walking and walking. I ended up at a 24 hour book store that was also a coffee shop. I ordered a cup and grabbed a book, sitting down.

"Long night?" Someone asked after about twenty minutes. I looked up and saw an older lady.

"Yeah. I just don't wanna be home. Or anywhere near home."

"Abusive parents?"

"No. My dad is the nicest guy I've ever met."

"So, girl troubles. Or guy troubles. Or relationship problems. Just to cover all my bases." She said. I laughed a little.

"Girl troubles. She got mad because I wouldn't have sex with her at this party she was throwing. Granted, I stayed in her room the whole time. But every time I looked downstairs, she was flirting with this guy."

"How long have you two been together?" She asked.

"Six months. But it always feels like we just started dating. We fight, yeah, but we make up and back to our normal cuddles and stuff."

"Like an eternal honeymoon phase?"

"Oh yeah." I said. She nodded. "Are you a therapist?"

"I used to be. Now I'm traveling the world. I never spent any extra money unless I absolutely needed something. Saved a ton and now I'm traveling with my girlfriend."

"How long have you and your girlfriend been together?"

"Forty years. We were both sixteen and the only gay people in the town. And remember this was the sixties."

"Damn. So what brings you here at 3AM?"

"Book stores are my happy place. And I needed a new book."

"What's your type?" I asked.

"Sci-Fi. Horror. Little bit of romance but not too much."

"Have you read Croak? It's really good."

"No I haven't." I explained the plot a little and showed her where it is. She bought all three and I bought the book I was reading.

I walked her to her hotel and I saw Ty's white Rover pull up beside me. I gave her a hug and she went in. She rolled the window down as I walked over. "Get in the car."

"Why?" I asked.

"Because we need to talk and it's 4AM."

"So? I don't like being yelled at for stupid shit."

"Josh, I'm not gonna yell at you."

"I know how you are. Of course you're gonna yell at me. Because you're Ty and you get everything you want."

"I swear to god, Josh." I laughed and walked the other way.

"Leave me alone, Ty."

She got out of her car and grabbed my arm. "Cut it out. Stop acting like you're two and talk to me like a fucking adult."

"Really? Then why did you spend your whole party flirting with that guy? And why did you get mad when I wouldn't have sex with you? And why did you go back to flirting with him after you left? Am I not enough for you?" I asked.

"I wasn't flirting with him." I laughed and sat on the bench.

"Really? So when did arm touching and giggling at everything he says not count as flirting? And he touched you. Like I touch you."

"Well maybe you should've been down there with me."

"You said it was okay. You know I don't do parties. I don't have friends. I don't have anyone. I don't have anyone to talk to. But you. And I didn't think I had to ward of guys for you. You always talk about how you don't look at other guys. But I leave you for one minute and there's another guy hitting on you."

"I can't control that."

"But you can not flirt back!" I yelled. "Fuck!" I got up and just walked off.

"Josh! Josh please!" She yelled after me. I stopped and turned around. She was crying. I went over and hugged her. "Joshy." She whispered.

"Shh. It's okay, princess. I love you. Daddy's here."

Ty clang to me and I picked her up. "I'm sorry."

"Shush. It's okay." She wrapped her arms and legs around me, letting me hold her as she cried into my shoulder.

"He raped me." She whispered. "After you left, he dragged me upstairs and raped me."

"Oh my god. Baby, we have to go to the police. Did you tell your moms?"

"I texted them that I was going to the police." I put her in the car and took her keys. I kissed her cheek and got in the car.

"I love you." I took her hand and drove the the police station/hospital. It was connected for some reason.

I carried her into the police station and the lady looked at me. "What can I do for you?"

"She needs a rape kit." I whispered. She nodded and told me to follow her. I did and she took her to a room.

"You have to leave for this." She said. I nodded and stood outside the door. "Are you on the pill?" I heard her ask.

"Yes. And he didn't use a condom."

"Do you know his name?"

"Travis Banks."
