You couldn't help but watch officer Hopper as he moved aside to let Joyce reunite with her still unconscious son. His usual annoyed look that he wore so often had been replaced with one of relief. Surely, a massive weight  had just been lifted off of his shoulders as he found the young boy that had disappeared without a trace. Running a gloved hand through his short brown hair, you continued to watch as he exhaled deeply taking a final look around the lab like area before turning his attention to you.

"(Y/LN)" he spoke loud enough to overpower Joyce who had been quietly mumbling to Will. "How ya holding up?"

What an interesting question. Your legs were weak. Your vision was blurry. Your throat and eyes were dry as a bone. And surely your hair was a mess. Despite all of the things that were so clearly wrong with you, you couldn't help but feel somewhat at peace knowing you were free of the danger.

"I'm okay." you croaked out the best you could.

A small smile appeared on his face after hearing your poor attempt to speak. He looked up and down at your body silently examining the damage that you couldn't really see yourself. It was obvious that you looked just as bad as Will did even though you had the ability to stand. It seemed after a brief moment of silence, officer Hopper was about to speak again though stopped at the sound of sudden footsteps heading toward the double doors leading out of the room.

Multiple paramedics poured into the once open space swarming each person who had just returned from hell. You wanted to watch Will just to make sure he was still breathing though it was hard to see past the medical professionals who began to pull at you until you were laying down completely still on a stretcher to be taken away. You wanted to walk out on your own as the sudden commotion and multiple hands grabbing began to freak you out. Despite the panic, the hands kept you laying down without much effort.

The night sky appeared just for a moment as your body exited whatever building you were in. Your eyes remained locked on the darkness with multiple stars lighting the way. Watching the sky it was easy to realize that something so small as the night sky could be taken for granted. It was something that you could have watched forever though only had a few moments to enjoy as the night sky view quickly turned into the ceiling of an ambulance.

Needle after needle poked your dry cracked skin frantically looking for veins and surely leaving bruises behind. A mask suddenly appeared over your mouth and nose strapping on securely to make sure you couldn't rip it off.

The man who put it on you began to speak to you though his voice had been drowned up with the commotion in the vehicle. He spoke quickly and with assertiveness in his voice though there wasn't enough time to read his lips before falling into a deep sleep that was much more relaxing than the one between the fort and being stuck to the wall.

-----Hours Later-----

The consistent beep of an unfamiliar machine began to stir you awake. The darkness that became so familiar began to fade against your will replacing its comfort with the blinding white light on a ceiling.

Your free eye stared directly into the light as your vision began to stabilize.  It only took a quick moment to realize that the eye that had been covered in the sticky slime had been bandaged up preventing vision once again. Your head only lightly pounded surely thanks to whatever pain killers you were currently on.

"(Y/n)?" you heard suddenly managing to startle you.

Your head quickly turned toward the side of your bed where Nancy Wheeler sat quietly looking tired and upset even though she had small smile on her face.

"Hey." you responded quietly sounding much better than you had before. Your throat no longer burned and your voice seemed to stable itself.

"Everyone sure missed you." she spoke again bringing a hand to your arm that had been hooked up to a dripping bag.
