CARTER stepped out of the black on black Bentley in just that - - all black everything as if he were going to a funeral. His leather Versace lace ups smashed the cigar in the pavement that he'd been smoking inside the back seat as the driver held the door opened for him like the street royalty that people revered him to be.
He held a crystal glass nearly empty with expensive cognac inside and poured that out onto the concrete as well amidst the ashes and crumbled Cuban cigar. Carter straightened the collar of his black Versace button down and the opened cardigan that he wore over it before he made his kingly stride into Manhattan Mercy.
The hospital was packed with sick patients and just as equally with staff. He felt the eyes on him staring at his jewelry, his expensive clothes, and his handsome physique but none of that mattered or got to him. Carter was at the hospital on a mission with the ambiance of no bullshit in his light green orbs. His face was that of stone and the crew that he rolled with had the same exact demeanor - - they followed him at discreet paces, keeping up with him as he turned the corner and ignored the shit out of white Becky-Sue at the receptionist desk.
"Can I help you?" She said as Carter walked right past her as if he were walking through the broad. In all honesty he didn't even see her - - she meant nothing to him and neither did her question. Carter knew where and what he came for and he wouldn't stop until he got to it.
Finally after walking through the halls of the hospital he reached the room he had been looking for. Just to make sure he grabbed the clipboard from the door and looked it over for identification. His eyes searched the paperwork until he saw the name Aiko Hamilton and when he did he put the chart back in it's rightful place. He peered in the window of the room and saw legs in the bed but something was blocking him from seeing her face.
"Mr. Mekhi," one of the guards with him handed him the bouquet of roses that he was to walk inside with and Carter walked in and then locked the door behind him. As an added security measure the guards he'd come with stood by the door with their hands at their waists unwilling to move until the boss said.
Carter walked closer to Aiko who was laid up in bed bandaged up with one of her feet up in a sling, "Damn," he said, "Destini fucked you up." She had a few broken ribs, a cracked nose, a hairline fractured ankle and a host of other things going on with her internally that she incurred after the beating. He stood by her bedside and just stared at her for a few moments before he saw her stir and open her eyes - - she could smell the scent of cologne.
"Daddy?" She called out and opened her eyes fully but was shocked to see it wasn't her father it was, "Carter."
"In the flesh, babe," he said and licked his plump lips, "Looks like you caught a bad one, huh?"
"Carter I didn't expect you here," said Aiko as she tried to sit up but winced in pain whenever she moved, "I - - I thought."
"Shhh," he pressed his finger against her lips, "Chill - - chill ma, don't move. Looks," he frowned at the blood coming through her bandages, "Painful."
"It is," Aiko looked away from him and sighed, "Your wife is going down."
"Aiko don't," he raised his hand and shook his head, "Enough has happened already, ma."
