She felt the flames that lingered in her blood. She was so tired, but with time, the fire faded and her skin moved from overheated and burning to both cold and comfortable. Her tense muscles seemed to loosen completely, and when she was finally willing to awaken, she felt a hand on top of hers.
She was laying on her side, and the person was rubbing their thumb along the back of her palm.
Avarice blinked once or twice, then her eyes focused on the person sitting in a chair next to her bed.
"Hi," Pin said, her eyes watering as she smiled down at Avarice.
"Hello," Avarice replied, her voice cracking repeatedly.
"God, I can't believe you did that."
Avarice only smiled, not really having the energy to do anything else. Pin leaned down and wrapped Avarice into a hug, which she eagerly returned the best she could.
