It was really hard waiting for the reply. Everyone was nervous. Would they pick me? I mean, this is pretty competitive. Over 40,000 people in Washington State alone have sent in applications.
It was taking forever. My days kept getting sower as we got closer to June 20th.
I'm getting anxious. It's getting closer to the deadline for notifications. Maybe I wasn't selected. I'm losing hope. Maybe I should just give up.
Then, June 20th.
I was check my email, when I got an email from the Washington DeCom in Olympia.
"Congratulations, Henry Garvey! You have been selected as the Washington State Representative for the USA Comedy Contest!"
YES!
I ran down to the club, and luckily, no one was onstage, so I grabbed the opportunity, and got in front of the microphone.
"Hey, everyone! I got in! I'm going to Honolulu!"
As everyone cheered, my mind and heart were racing. I had a lot to do.
This is exciting. I am going to bring my comedy on national television, and I will be competing against 56 other people.
This is the best thing that's ever happened to me.
