Serena's POV

I ran up the steps of Bruce's house and quickly slipped inside the doors.I rushed into the study where I found Bruce looking at a couple of books.

"Bruce!" I called.

Bruce whirled around and a smile formed on his face.

"Serena, where were you?! I thought you were coming earlier!" Bruce claimed as he walked over to me.

I took his hand and led him to the sofa. We sat down.

"I got a little sidetracked." I said, trailing off.

"With what?" He asked.

Oh god, how the heck am I suppose to explain that I followed a crazy ginger into an alley and he tried to get me to kill someone but they I got rescued by my Aunt's scary girlfriend?

"Jerome. Jerome Valeska." I said simply.

"Wasn't he the guy from the circus who killed his mom?" Bruce asked.

I nodded.

"What happened?" Bruce asked.

"If I tell you, you promise not to tell Jim?" I asked, raising a brow.

"I swear." Bruce said.

I sighed.

"I followed Jerome down an alley when he found me and took me to the top of a building. Where they were murdering people. Jerome wanted me to shove someone off the building, but I sprayed him in the face with paint and then.." I stopped myself.

"And then what?" Bruce asked, confused.

I thought for a moment. Tabitha mentioned something about keeping a secret. Did she want me to keep her a secret? I groaned. If I kept anymore secrets, I would probably go crazy. But that seemed normal in Gotham.Still, I'd prefer to keep my sanity.

"I ran off so that the other men wouldn't get me." I lied.

Bruce gave me a confused look. Oh no.

"How did they not catch you?" He asked.

I had to think of something, quick.

"I threw the cans of paint over so that they would have a tough time getting to me." I said.

Bruce was about to say something when Alfred walked into the door carrying tea.

"Hello Miss. Gordon." Alfred said, handing me a cup of tea.

"Hi Alfred. Thanks for the tea." I said, grabbing the tea cup.

"No problem." He said and handed Bruce a cup.

"Thank you Alfred." Bruce said.

"No problem Master Bruce." Alfred replied.

He then walked out of the door.

"They call themselves the Maniacs." I said.

"Who?" Bruce asked.

"Jerome's gang. I think Barbara is in it too." I stated.

"Did you see Barbara?" He asked.

I shook my head.

"I was worried about you Serena. In Gotham, you never know what happens." Bruce admitted quietly.

I smiled softly at him.

"That's really sweet Bruce." I said.

I leaned in and gently kissed him on the cheek.

I felt his face heat up as he blushed. Suddenly my phone buzzed. Romantic moment ruined once again by my phone. It was a call from Lee.

I answered it.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Serena, are you still at Bruce's?" She asked.

"Yeah, why?" I asked confused.

"Jim is working late, so I was wondering if you would like to spend the night at my house." Lee said.

"Sure, that sounds fun." I  said.

"Great! I'll pick you up in 10 minutes, okay?" She asked.

"Okay!" I said, and hanged up.

"Seems like you and Lee are getting along." Bruce commented.

"Trying to at least. Barbara has made it quite difficult for a friendship to form between Lee and I." I said.

Bruce nodded.

After a little bit of talking, the door bell rang.

"That's probably Lee, I'll you later Bruce!" I said.

"Okay!" Bruce said, and I headed outside.

I walked down the steps and got into Lee's car.

"So is the Bruce Wayne your boyfriend or something?" Lee  asked.

"No.. well... I'm not sure." I admitted.

"Sounds complicated." She said.

"Very." I said, grinning.

Lee laughed and we headed to her house.
