"This night has been great. I haven't seen anyone give us a dirty look." Nettie smiled and whispered over her glass.
"Hm. It's kind of sad though..." Tea replied solemnly. "It's sad that we're surprised that we're not not be treated like shit."
"I guess so. One day it will change, don't worry. Things are changing. Queer marriage was legalized! Yay!" Nettie smiled and did a small cheer with her hands.
"But that could change. With everyone who's in office right now..." Tea looked down at her feet.
"No. Shut up. Stop. Since the beginning of our history, what did LGBT+ people have? Hope, perseverance, and love. And so much more. We're an amazing group of people. We can get past this low point, okay? We shouldn't be afraid of the government, the government should be afraid of us. Power to the people, right?" Nettie held out her fist, which Tea bumped with a small smile.
