I talked about Jane but I want to talk about her more obviously.
Well in Earthly Ties, Jane is highly close to her god child Fey. Even to the point of wanting her to work at the Reinfort Airbase. Possibly in part by Jane's help, that Fey get a chance to go there. What is not said is about how much of Jane's knowledge about flight.
Well first, Jane is supplied with her own ship. Which is obvious. But she have intimate knowledge about interplanetary travel. Otherwise, she can't go to earth.
Second, Jane is the captain, engineer, and navigator of her ship. Of course Virtual Intellegence could play out in the engineering and navigation. But I wanted to include that Jane can repair her ship and navigate systems.
Which then leaves a question: what job does Fey apply for?
Simple, Fey is needed to build the external nitrogen coolant tank. Therefore, aircraft engineer is the answer. Jane trained Fey to be an engineer.
But Treble interfered. Which leads to this:
What is the improved H-3 design that Fey wanted to patent?
It is Treble's H-3 "Microstar" engine. Of course though, she did not think it through.
When the government finds out about it, Fey will be in danger.
