Chapter Eight

Mackenzie's POV

"Mom, I want to be home schooled." Maddie said as we ate breakfast.

"What? Why, sweetie?" Mom asked.

"Because, school's not fun anymore. I just get made fun of and I'm not popular anymore."

"Welcome to normal life." I rolled my eyes.

"Whatever, Mackenzie. You're a brat."

"Geesh, what happened to sweet, nice, perfect, Maddie?" I asked.

"What are you talking about, brat?"

"That's exactly what I'm talking about. You're usually nice to me, I'm the one that's mean to you."

"Yeah, well people can change." She scoffed.

"Well, I don't like your change."

"You know what? Shut up now or else I'll-"

"Girls!" Mom yelled, "Stop fighting now! If Maddie would like to be homeschooled then so be it."

"Good. Later, loser." She smiled at me before running up to her room.

"So, I'll just be up stairs." I said.

"No, you're still going to school, Mackenzie, so get your back pack and get in the car. I work early so I'll drop you off."

"Fine." I shrugged. I grabbed my back pack and hopped into the car. "Um, Keigan just texted me. She has no one to walk with. So, can you just drop me off at the stop sign up there?"

"Sure." She stopped at the sign and I hopped out.

"Bye, mom, love you."

"You sure Keigan is meeting you here?" She asked.

"Yes, mom. She said she'll be here in a few minutes." I lied.

"Okay, love you too. Just don't be late, okay?"

"Yes, mom. Bye now."

"Good bye." She blew me a kiss before leaving.

I looked down the street to make sure she was gone, then I headed back home.

I really didn't want to go to school so I just lied. I opened the door, took off my shoes, and threw my back pack onto the ground.

Time to see what Maddie's up to.
