The Hall of Legends was, quite literally a hallway. A really fucking long hallway.

I stood in the entrance, staring down the seemingly endless hallway. The entrance looked no different than any cave on the side of a mountain, and I definitely would've missed it if I hadn't been looking. Which I guess is the point.

"Well? Are you going in?" A voice spoke up behind me, causing me to jump and whirl around.

It was a woman leaning against a tree a little ways down from the entrance. I had to have went passed her as I approached, but I hadn't sensed her at all. And it wasn't like she was easy to miss.

She was about my height, with a slender warrior's build and caramel skin. Her hair was silverish white and her eyes were a bright aqua green. Though she looked young, there was something about her face that made her look ageless. She wore black leather pants, a tube top with the army fatigue pattern, a black leather trench coat with the sleeves torn off, and huge army boots that I wouldn't doubt were steel toed. There were also bandages wrapped around her arms from her elbows down to her fingers.

"You're a new Alpha right?" She continued, coming towards me. "A little on the small side, but I can definitely sense your power."

"Um..." I took a step back. "Im sorry but...who are you?"

Her eyes widened briefly and then the edges of her lips curled in a weirdly sinister smile. "You don't know who I am?"

I shifted nervously. Was I supposed to know who she was? "Um...no?"

"This is new." Quicker than my eyes could catch she darted forward until our noses nearly touched. "You smell of rogue. What are you doing here?"

"It's a long story." I scratched the back of my head nervously.

She smirked and spread her arms. "We have time."

"But..." I looked over my shoulder at the mouth of the cave.

Her tinkling laugh seemed to echo through the woods. "You can't get in without my permission either way."

The blood drained from my face as a memory suddenly sprung to the forefront of my mind. Back before Alex bullied me, before Blake left me for his 'friends'. When we were as thick as thieves and the two of them were my best friends.

I had been bored out of my mind because the two of them were being taught about their perspective roles by Elder--though at the time Alpha--Elijah. Having nothing else to do, I had decided to wait for the two of them outside of the Alpha's office and, with my exceptional hearing, I was able to clearly hear the subject of the lesson they were learning.

Of course, it was the Hall of Legends.

Specifically, the gatekeeper.

Queen Lilith, the very first female Alpha, founder of the most vicious and violent pack, Silverclaw. She was rumored to be the very last wolf so graciously anointed by our Goddess, a deadly gift of silver teeth and claws in her wolf form that attribute to her merciless, borderline demonic treatment of her enemies. In any war, her presence alone could turn the tides, let alone if she were to be accompanied by her notorious pack. She was easily the most blood thirsty, violent, dangerous Alpha amongst the Greats. And because of this, once she retired from Alpha the Goddess gave her the position of gatekeeper to protect the Fathers Eldest and test every Alpha that came up here to be blessed.

If she did not permit you to enter, then the only other option was death.

"Your Greatness." I said immediately, baring my neck to her. "My apologies for not immediately recognizing you. I am unfortunately lacking in all I must know to become an Alpha."
