Chapter 30

Isabel Beatriz

Maybe we're perfect strangers, maybe it's not forever.

Maybe the night will change us, maybe we'll stay together.

Maybe we'll walk away, maybe we'll realize we're only human.

Maybe we don't need no reason why.

Maki turned off the speaker as she heard the lyrics of the Jonas Blue song. "Hey, why'd you turn it off?" I asked.

She rolled her eyes on me, and then said, "Sus, Isabel Beatriz. I know you and Jho listened to that song no'ng retreat niyo." Oh, yeah. That night.

- Flashback -

Jho and I were listening to Perfect Strangers by Jonas Blue for the nth time sa retreat.

Papunta ng venue, while preparing, while eating lunch, name it. Nakakaadik, nakaka-LSS.

"Maybe we're perfect strangers, maybe it's not forever!" She sang inside the bathroom. We requested kasi if we could stay in the same room.

You know, best friend duties.

Looking back to what happened today, I've known my best friend better. And if there's one thing I realized?

I love her, more than anything else. I love her, more than a friend.

"Isabel Beatriz!" Cel snapped. Maki naman kasi, e. Pinapaalala 'yung di dapat!

"Cel, dapat di mo na ginawa 'yon. Nagdaydream na 'yang si Beatriz, o." Sabi ni Maki at umiling.

"Sus. Kung magdadaydream nalang at si Jhoana pa ang maiisip, 'wag na!" Sabi ni Cel at sumubo ng pringles.

"If that's what makes you sleep at night, Celly." Ani Maki and I've finally decided to make my day productive. Pwedeng magrevolve ang mundo ko kay Jho, pero ayaw ko munang umilkot ang mundo ko sakanya ngayon.

"Hoy, hoy, hoy, hoy, hoy. Asan ka pupunta, de Leyown?" Tanong ni Cel at tinignan ako ng malalim pero makikita mo naman'g nagjojoke.

"Gonna make my day productive, bakit, del Rosario, sasama ka ba?" Tanong ko at nagwink. Dumiretso ako sa CR para maghanda.

So, where to, Bea? My inner self asked me. I wanna do an adventure today, 'di ko lang alam ano. Tinawagan ko si Jia para magtanong if she has plans ba today.

"Hello, Julia Melissa Morado?"

["Hi, Isabel Beatriz de Leon. You need anything powz?"]

"Hm, di naman talaga need. May lakad ka ba today?"

["Oh, meron! Sama ka ha? We'll pick you up there later. I'll text you nalang if we're on the way na. Wear something comfy. Bye, see you."]

She said then ended the call.

"Hay nako, Jia. Ang boring na dito! Alis nga tayo!" Reklamo ni Jho habang naglalakad ng pabalik balik dito sa kwarto.

"Hm, ask Syd. Wala akong plans pero if di siya free, sabay tayo." Sagot ko. She went out to ask Syd, then she went back right away.

"Umalis sila ni Jules, sabi raw ni Deanna." Sabi ni Jho at ibinagsak ang sarili sa kanyang kama.

"Tayo na nga lang dalawa, so where to?" Tanong ko.

(A/N: The place is just imaginary. Walang pumapasok sa utak ko, huhu. So just picture this instead: JBDventures, a place full of rides and beautiful views.)

"Have you heard of JBDventures? Du'n nalang tayo, Ji." Agad naman akong tumango. "Sige, I'll get ready muna."

Calling.... Isabel Beatriz

["Hello, Julia Melissa Morado?"]

"Hi, Isabel Beatriz de Leon. You need anything powz?"

["Hm, di naman talaga need. May lakad ka ba today?"]

"Oh, meron! Sama ka ha? We'll pick you up there later. I'll text you nalang if we're on the way na. Wear something comfy. Bye, see you."

Today's gonna be a great day for the two of them.

I was waiting for Jia's text when her car suddenly arrived, according to Manang. Lumabas ako with my backpack and then sleeveless white crop top na fitting with black high waist shorts. I was also wearing my ace embroided sneakers from Gucci.

Binuksan ko ang front— what the fuck?! Why is Jhoana Louisse Maraguinot even here?! I planned to make my day productive, not to remember her!

"Ahm, Bea. Gusto mo ba umupo dito? Lilipat nalang ako do'n sa likod if dito ka uupo." She asked. Umiling lang ako at hinayaang bukas ang pintuan niya saka pumasok sa backseat.

"Are you okay, Bea, Jho?" Tanong ni Jia habang nagdadrive. Do I look okay?! Isama mo ba naman 'yung dahilan ng pag-alis ko sa Pilipinas?! Tumango nalang ako habang nakangiti.

"Welcome to JBDventures!" Sabi nung sumalubong sa 'min sa reception area kung sa'n magbabayad. I smiled at her. Dinikitan kami ng blue na sticker at pumasok na sa park.

"Ji, dali! Sakay tayo du'n sa Giant Swing!" Sabi ko, para naman mag enjoy. Kaso nakakainis talaga, e. "Pero deep inside gusto mo din naman 'yan, Bei, e." Ano ba inner self! Tigilan mo 'ko!

"Pero, diba Bey takot ka sa heights? You even refused to ride the skycycle in Davao, diba? Ano nalang kaya 'to?" Jho said. A lot of things may have changed, Jhoana. But, undeniably, my love for you will never change.

I tried to smile at her, "Things do to change, Jhoana. Kung noon mahal kita, ngayon hindi na." Sabi ko at hinila si Jia para magpalagay ng safety gears.

Jhoana Louisse

"Pero, diba Bey takot ka sa heights? You even refused to ride the skycycle in Davao, diba? Ano nalang kaya 'to?" Sabi ko.

Nginitian naman ako ni Bea bago sumagot, "Things do change, Jhoana. Kung noon mahal kita, ngayon hindi na." Sabi niya at hinila si Jia.

Napako naman ako sa kinatatayuan ko, at habang nagpapalagay sila ng safety gears ay may tumulo na mga luha galing sa aking mga mata. How stupid of you, Jhoana.

I sat down sa grass and let my tears fall down. Noong inaakyat na sina Jia, pinigilan ko na ang luha ko. Hindi pwedeng masaktan ka, Jho. Wala kang karapatan.

I miss you so bad, my Bea.
