Sappho Asylum

Third Person POV

Although, it was boring, living in the hellhole, that was the asylum, wasn't exactly easy. With, hoards of random, unspecified people constantly getting brought into the asylum, it was increasingly getting harder to cope. It was at this point, where they decided to make my life harder, by letting all the prisoners freely roam the prison cells (that's what it felt like they were), at all eating times. Though, we were all still watched over by guards, who no doubt, was only here for the money, they had clearly shown us, that they wouldn't protect us, against each other, and wouldn't step in when violence occured. Instead, they would encourage it, only for unruly; wild. That was their plan. It was always, their plan.

This system was newly introduced to me, and since I hadn't of been in contact with any human being for the past 12 years, this was a massive change, and a chance to prove that I was different.

Yeah, well, that didn't work, as planned. In fact, it went spiralling out of control, the moment it started. You see, the plan was to be a loner, do everything by myself, and not get into any trouble. Not get into any trouble. Yeah, well, I can't exactly say that I achieved that target.

"Hey, *****, that's my seat," a woman called, from the line. I had sat on a random seat. A random seat. A seat that was not occupied, one that was far from the rest of them. It seems this woman didn't have eyes, 'cause if she did, she would've realised that her name hadn't been implanted anywhere in the seat, meaning that she couldn't claim it. Although, I did try and ignore her, she kept on pestering me, calling me names and insulting me. It was a wonder that I hadn't of blown the fuse. I could see all the other prisoners eyeing us, and it didn't help that they had crowded round to get a better view, and to start a fight. The guards stood off at a distance, doing nothing about the fact that all the prisoners in the dining hall, had stood up, and formed a circle around the two of us. Great, now there was no escaping from this. Whatever this, was. It wasn't exactly helping. It wasn't even my fault. She then said something that I really hoped she wouldn't. "If you think you're so tough, fight me for it."

With the crowd around us, and the thought of being beat to a pulp, either way, (with or without fighting,) I decided to take the long road down, and decided I'd rather die fighting, than just letting stupid people like her, always getting what they want. So, I did a stupid thing, that I was bound to regret. "Okay, *****, bring it on." It was amusing how shocked the girl, (of which, I didn't have name for,) looked, and smiled sweetly, though sarcastically to her, and said, "Too afraid? I really don't want to lower myself to your level, so you know what, you can have the first move." She looked at me like, What the hell? And then proceeded to punch the back of my leg. It, being the back of my leg, made me fall to the ground, just like it would, to every other human being. "You know, you are as worthless as I thought you would be." She said. While she was talking, I pulled her to the ground and punched her. She smiled at me, though her lip was bleeding, and so her teeth was stained slightly with blood. She jabbed my side, and said, "That's probably why your parents gave you away; sent you here. Because they didn't want to cope with your stupidness. You weren't even part of the same family. You're adopted." I just stopped doing everything at that point. She just... The crowd cheered for her, and kept on getting me in the face, with insults. The pain, didn't even feel like pain anymore. I just couldn't feel it.
She kept on punching me, and as I punched back, I realised that she was saying those things, that she had said, to try and get me angry, to make me do what she wanted me to do. Well, congratulations, I said mentally. She went to punch me, and I dodged out of the way. I punched her face, continually, until she was unconscious, and very much out of it. Then a massive pain went through my head, and I sighed.
Seriously?! Black spots covered my vision, and turning my head, I glared at the guard who knocked their weapon into the back of my head.

My last thoughts were: First time with human contact, in 12 years. Didn't go so well.
