Nick's P.O.V
Upon arriving back at the ZPD I go report the information I've got regarding the case. This case has unraveled into a much larger scaled investigation. "Wilde what did you find? You've been gone a while"
I'm stopped by the Chief, "there is something going on you're right. But that old building holds something sinister, I believe they used to torture and experiment on animals in there" biting down onto my lip remembering the events that took place in there. "So we've finally found them" His voice trails off, "them?"
"Indeed Wilde, this case has been around for a while. If only we could speak with one of the test subjects, they could help us shut this secret agency down." His eyes darken "but I don't believe any of them ever made it out alive" my throat tightens, the dryness stabbing at my throat. "They were all killed? What did they do to them? Who-who are they?" My interest peeked, determined to find out more about this. "Nothing that could identify anyone was left... It was almost a flawless crime despite it all." Anger and frustration causes my actions to become reckless, slamming my paws down onto the desk adjacent to me. "So how the hell do I help her?" All logic has passed my disorderly mind, my actions abrupt, all this makes no sense.
Everything goes black. A surreal sensation comes over me, my eyes flicker open, it's in front of me. The pieces.
An almost empty folder of a unknown case is handed to me and Judy, we check the place out, noticeably something is up, we meet a self assured fox well acquainted with the area. Judy didn't trust her, she got in my head. Yet she's somehow involved with this?
She was one of the tortured animals.
My head throbs, I grip it tightly wincing. The Chief knew about this all along? Why was there never a full investigation? Was there not enough evidence? Why...
Was she threatened?
'Even the most perfect of minds can be manipulated'
Twisted into perfect illusions.
"Office Wilde!"
His words strike me, my mind falls back to reality. My sight restoring.
I look over to him in dismay, I'm losing all logic. "You know something don't you?" He arches his back, staring me down, putting on my playful laugh I respond "and what makes you ask that?"
"You're distracted, not working with Judy as much. Who is that fox?"
"That fox has a name" straight to the defence, she won't want to give a statement. "How is she involved in this? Does she know something that needs to be discussed?"
"Not at all" a crooked smile plays over my lips. "You're playing on thin ice Wilde, get your head out of the clouds and get her here for a statement" tone stern, not taking any excuses. "I can't do that to her" meeting his eyes, I don't know when I became so protective over her. "It would seem you've grown rather fond of that little fox. Read my lips, I don't give a flying hoof what you feel towards her, it's interfering and it ends now. Last chance, bring her here after the weekend or you'll find your position here to grow rather difficult. No matter how good of an officer you are, if you fail to follow orders not even that can be your defence." With that said he glares at me, walking away, folders under one arm.
He mutters something under his breath, I can't make it out.
"Should've just fallen for the bunny"

I've had pretty much no internet (basically none) so I couldn't update, that said I haven't been writing much, I've got plans for some future chapters... 😉 Just now trying to kind of make up a case for the story now, it should (HOPEFULLY) make sense in a future chapter. I do have inspiration and will continue to update, just need to organise and not forget what I already have in this story so far 😂
(PS: This is published after I get back home, wrote this late at night (I know here with the excuses 😂😕) attempting to make up for not actually writing a chapter, I've been lazy, and I said to myself 'I will writer lots of chapters to publish when I get home'
...
That sure did not happen.
