~ Selena ~
My hands were shaking as I slowly removed my water stained clothes. They fell onto the floor, one piece after the other with a loud thud. I closed my eyes every time it happened. My lips were quivering, my body numb. Demi was dressing herself like she normally would, pulling on her clothes without a care in the world. Her thick black pants and top complimented the boots and vest she pulled over body. We had to ready ourselves for death. Ultimately, that's what we were preparing ourselves for. I pulled on the dark dress I found stashed along with the other agent type paraphernalia. Items such as guns, bombs, and other smaller explosives.
The room we stood in would be the last here in Los Angeles. Demi would look over and tell me that I was staying, and I'd argue with her on it every time. There was nothing more to love if she and I couldn't be together. I knew it wasn't a rational thing for me say , but it was the only thing I could do to convince myself on following them to our demise. I pulled my shirt over my head as Demi began tossing items into her vest pocket. She clipped on two guns and even stashed one in her boot. A loud siren rung through the air just as she took in a deep breath.
"I have to check on Nick and Joe." Her voice had filled the air after at least thirty minutes of silence. I gave her a gentle nod as she paced over towards me. I wanted to shove her away. I wanted to be angry because she wanted to go off on her own and handle the agency by herself. But exhaustion had taken over. I had been up arguing and putting all of my energy into being angry that I found myself staying awake all night. Now, it was nearing high noon. I sat against one of the chairs' in the room. There was no plan, at least on my end. What was I to do when I would be faced with massive amounts of soldiers and agents staring me in the face? Demi made her way over towards me, her fingers entangling themselves in my hair as she gazed into my eyes.
Her fingers stayed in place for a moment or two before brushing against my ear. I was too exhausted to fight the woman as she pressed her lips against my forehead. Her gentle pecks lead towards my nose and cheeks, her eyes meeting mine as I sadly studied her. She had wanted to say something, but kept quiet as her lip quivered. The silence between us wasn't a normal thing to have. But it held onto us with all it's might.
"I..." her voice shook as she pressed her nose against my own. "I love everything that you are." Her breath brushed against my skin as a lump slowly formed against my throat. It was as if I wanted to break down and cry between her grip. "I love you, for bringing this lost girl back to life." Her eyes had never seemed so distant before. I caught myself closing my eyes as she cupped my chin. "I love the beauty you seem to bring into this evil and unforgiving world." Her quivering lips had pressed into mine, my heart aching as she held onto me. I didn't want to be angry. I hadn't wanted any of this bad stuff to come into our lives. As she finally pulled away, her voice began to crack. "I love you too much to let you go. So I'm giving you the only thing that I can."
"...what?" My voice was low, her eyes welling with tears.
"I'm giving you a second chance." Her words confused me as she pulled away, her last kiss warming me as she stepped towards the door of the room. Before I could even question what she was talking about, her fingers grazed the doorknob. "Live for me Selena. It's the only thing I'll ever ask of you." As Demi backed out of the room it clicked. I rushed over towards the door, grabbing the knob only to find it locked. I was confused, pounding on the door and allowing myself to scream Demi's name over and over again. She had lured me into this room, only to keep me inside of it. I clawed at the doorframe, my foot kicking against the wood over and over again, but to no avail.
"DEMI!!!" My body shook from my own screams as I continued to pound on the doorframe. My cries ricocheted off the walls, filling the room as I continued to scream. I refused to let her leave me in this place. I refused for her to be dragged back into her old Agency and killed because she needed to do this. She was trying to fight a battle that wasn't just hers. I fell to my knees shaking. I couldn't except this as a goodbye. I wouldn't accept it. My watered eyes blurred my vision as I pushed myself back onto my feet. I began ripping things off the walls, allowing the equipment to fall with a thud. I was shaking. My body was numb, the only thing I could feel was the pain that now drowned me from the inside out.
