A/N: the song is Take it Easy by The Eagles

I'm kind of a wanderer. I do what I want when I want to. I dropped out of college much to everyone's vehement disapproval, but I don't care. I found myself a nice and easy part time job and an accomplished roomie to help me out because I can't afford everything on my own. It's alright, I travel a lot, meet all kinds of people, and I love my life even if I am a failure according to some. One of my favorite things to do is travel by boat. I own a little heap of metal that passes as a sailboat, and I love to take people out on it. There isn't much room, but there's enough for me and 2 others if we sit closely. It's not the super yacht my dad thinks I can own if I go to school, but it's good enough for me. I take it down to the beach and launch it for a day of sunbathing on Sundays. It's been a tradition ever since I moved here. This Sunday is going well so far. I've lined up my little boat with the launch ramp and I'm tossing my belongings in the back. That's when he walked up.

"This is yours?" he asked. "All mine. Paid in full." he laughed. "It's cute. I like it." "Which one is yours?" I asked, looking at all of the shiny boats in the marina. "I don't have one. Not much of a boat person, I guess." I looked at him. I like my guys tall, dark, and handsome, and he meets the criteria. Of course, when you're short, most everyone is tall. "Well, I think the water is great. You'd love boating if you gave it a chance." He shrugged. "Maybe. I'm Mark, by the way." "(Y/N). Nice to meet you. Do you come here often?" "When I need to clear my head. There's something peaceful about watching boats, especially sailboats." I agreed. Then I had a wild idea. "Why not come out on my boat with me?" I asked. He politely declined at first, but after mulling it over decided to give it a chance. "Just...be careful getting in. Capsizing in the marina is gross." he laughed. "Thanks for the warning (y/n), I'll try not to fuck up." he hopped into the boat and stumbled around before settling in. "Good?" he asked. "Perfect." I replied, tossing the rope into the boat and leaping in. I landed almost on top of him, and I swore he blushed a bit. "Sorry, there's not much room in here. No super yacht for me." "It's alright. I like this already." Gosh, he's cute. "So...what do you do for a living (y/n)? Tell me about yourself." "I'm a drifter." I replied. "I work part time in a store...that's it. I just travel around doing what I want." He smiled. "That actually sounds cool." "What about you?" I asked. "I have a streaming career. YouTube...check it out sometime." I'm not much for the internet, but I agreed to do so. "So what, you all rich or something?" "Kinda." he replied. "Really?" I asked, impressed. "Money isn't everything...you can't buy the most important things in life." He's right. "I'm sure you don't wanna hang out with a peasant like me." I said. "Why would you say that? I don't even know you but so far I really like you." I smiled. "I'm lame. I'm not famous on the internet." "That doesn't mean you're lame. Look, between me and you...and that seagull over there, if anyone in this boat is lame it's me." I laughed. "Alright, if you say so." I replied. "So where are we headed?" he asked. "Open waters. The farther away we get, the better the sailing is." He looked out on the horizon, then over the side of the boat. "Deep." he said. "Very. The drop off here is pretty steep." We sailed in silence. "We're gonna hit the end of the map if we don't stop soon." Mark joked. I didn't get it. "Map? What?" "Video game joke." Mark said, sheepishly. "I see. I don't play. I'm simple like that." He shrugged. "It was nice of you to bring me out here." he said. "It's nice to have some company from time to time." I said, putting on some sunscreen. He watched me shyly. "Need some?" I asked. "Nah, I'll be alright." I laid back and let the rays hit my skin. "God that's amazing." I muttered. I felt the boat shift as Mark tried the same thing. Did I stress how small my boat is? We capsized. At least I didn't have anything too valuable on me. I pushed the boat upright and climbed back in while Mark just sat there, trying to figure out what happened. "I'm so sorry (y/n)..." he said. "No worries." I replied. "Just make sure that you don't pu-" too late. He tried pulling himself into the boat all wrong and I wound up in the water again. "Nevermind." I laughed. "Okay, I suck at this. Fuck." he laughed. "Just relax, let me handle it." I pushed the boat upright again. "Alright, now...let me hold it while you climb in." He carefully climbed in while I held the boat. "Good job." I said. "Now let me get up." I said, gently pulling myself up. So much for tanning...but the water did feel good. "Well...shit." he said, peeling his shirt off. "I guess it's a good thing I know how to swim." "Right? I didn't plan on getting all wet...but whatever." We both laughed. "So...wanna ditch the dingy and hit the water some more?" I pondered that and decided that a nice dip wouldn't feel too bad. I jumped in and he followed suit, splashing me. I watched him tread water and caught a glimpse of his body. I looked away, pretending to be interested in something else. "Can we do this again sometime? I'm sorry to ask, but this is the most fun I've had in a long time." I smiled. "Of course we can...I come here every Sunday about this time." "I'll be there, but...I've gotta get back. I can swim if you need me to." "Don't be silly, I'll take you back. Get in." Mark struggled, but eventually pulled himself up and I dragged myself into the boat behind him. I flipped the motor on and took us back to the marina. "Sorry I don't have a towel." I said. "Eh, it's hot out. I'll be fine." he replied. "See you next weekend (y/n)." he said. "Bye Mark." I replied.
