I watch as M'ayris' neutral expression quickly turns into one of confusion. She didn't see the letter...

"Mi'kai, what are you talking about?" Her voice was filled with concern as her blue eyes met my gaze. I can't lie to her.

"Mom and dad passed away," I mumble softly, "there was a freak accident."

My sister nods before walking passed me and toward her bunk. "If Benja asks where I am, just say I went to take a shower." The small girl winces as she uses her injured hand to pull on her jacket. What?

"Where are you going?" I look at my sister in confusion as she starts to pull on gloves.

"I'm going to find our baby sister. You can come if you want, but I'm not going to wait for you," M'ayris states, looking at me with a serious expression on her face. How is she not upset?

"You just found out our parents are dead, and the first thing you want to do is find Meifertag? Do you even know where she is?"

"Do you know where she is?" M'ayris raises an eyebrow at me.

"Well no, but-"

"Exactly. I have a feeling the army forced our baby sister to join them." My sister turns to walk toward the outside.

"I thought there was a law against that," I mumble to myself as I pull my jacket off a hook, "Why would the emperor break his own law?"

"It's only a feeling," M'ayris murmurs as she opens the door, "but when has my intuition been wrong?" I pause in the middle of pulling my jacket on. M'ayris has always been one to trust her gut instinct. I watch as M'ayris walks out into the cold air of the camp. She acts a lot like dad.

I watch the twins' conversation for a moment before turning my attention back to Frags. My eyes scan his bare torso, and I couldn't help but smirk. He's been working on his abs.

"What's that smirk for?" Frags asks, raising an eyebrow and crossing his arms over his chest.

"What smirk?" I tilt my head in mock confusion.

"You have that smile on your face," the orange eyed teen states, "The same smile you make when you're feeling mischievous."

"I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm just enjoying the view." Frags' face turns red at my comment. Cute.

"You're joking right?" he stutters out, looking away from me in embarrassment.

"Joking about what?" I murmur, taking a step closer to him. "You're a stunner Frags."

"No I'm not," Frags mutters, letting out a huff. What are you talking about Frags?

"I don't think you realize how often I catch people staring at you." I lean down to pick up the shirt that he most likely threw into the ground. "Everyday there is a different person who asks about you. Girls swoon as you walk passed them. I can only imagine how they'd react if they saw you like this." His shirt was soft; softer than mine. Some sort of imperial fabric.

Frags looks at me in surprise. "I don't want anyone else to see you without a shirt. I'm already scared as it is," I murmur before handing the shirt to him.

"What are you scared of? You can easily win a fight against ninety percent of the people in the camp."

"I'm scared of losing you Frags."
