Anaihee pauses her process of doing her makeup as I step into her quarters. Her green eyes glow with excitement as she runs over to me. "Will you be going to the dinner, Mi'kai?"

I shake my head no. "The emperor has me assigned to watch the front gates," I state, avoiding her gaze as she reaches out and touches my chest.

"Look, I'm sorry that your friend betrayed you, Mi'kai, but it's been months now! You have to understand that Minecraftians can't be trusted. You don't have to take your anger out on me." I let out a sigh before gently pushing her hands away from me. It's true that Woofless has been missing for months now; not even a single trace has been found of him, or any other full-blooded Minecraftian on Imperial records. Then, not even a month ago, a mountainous city that housed thousands of undocumented Mineceaftian people became a ghost town.

The emperor was outraged; he personally interrogated almost every member of our graduating class for answers. Frags and I got out lucky, with only a few simple questions, but M'ayris wasn't as fortunate. After her questioning, she was jumped by a group of six royal guards for being legally registered as a Minecraftian. Wojcik didn't even bat an eyelash when she reported the insubordination to him. "I'm not angry at my friend." I finally speak up, shaking my head at her. "My sister is Minecraftian; I am part Minecraftian. How can you just stand there say that we can't be trusted?"

"I'm Imperial, Mi'kai," Anaihee states with a dark tone laced within her voice. "I'm Imperial, and Island Native, and Minecraftian. My father is half Minecraftian! My father and I were betrayed by our Minecraftian blood. When it comes down to the facts, full-blooded Minecraftians are evil by nature.
"Did your father ever tell you or your mother that he was a full-blooded Minecraftian? No, Mi'kai, he didn't. He let you and your sisters believe you were full-blooded as he spied on Island Natives and Imperials alike. Fvendal, that coward Minecraftian that ran off all those years ago, was the illegitimate son of the late Minecraftian prince, and he knew that too! That prince even payed off Fvendal's mother to keep quiet about the whole ordeal. And your friend, Woofless, the legitimate son of the same prince, nearly killed your sister by-"

I interrupt her, unable to handle her words. "That's enough, Anaihee." I narrow my eyes at her. "I don't know how you know all this information, but none of it answers my question as to why you think it's alright to be racist toward a group of people that did nothing wrong to you." I close my eyes and take a deep breath before looking at her again. Her green eyes were wide with shock. "I'm sorry, Anaihee, but I don't want to be in a relationship with you anymore."

Pain and sadness shine within the glowing anger within her green irises. "Get out." I nod and bow my head to her before turning and leaving the room. As I close the door behind me, I hear a loud shattering sound and quiet sobs echo from the room; and as I pause to listen to the sound of it, a wave of realisation nearly causes me to stumble as I walk away. This is why she is going to kill me.

Dear Admiral M'ayris Kai,

Your Attendance to the Imperial Anniversary Dinner Party, as an Admiral within our Great Emperor's Glorious Military, is Required by Order of our Great Princess and Future Empress, Anaihee.

Unless You are Physically Unable to Move or Mortally Ill and Contagious, You Must be Present at this Event.

I don't bother to finish reading the rest of the letter before letting out a groan of frustration and crumpling it up. I hate my job. I hate the emperor, and I hate his daughter. I hate literally everything right now. "'Be there at seventeen sharp, or a patrol will be sent to fetch you,'" Frags quotes from his own letter before engulfing it in flames within his hands. "That girl really needs to be put in her place." The paper barely lasted a second before it's ashes fell into a pile at the orange-eyed teen's feet. He has basically mastered his use of his strange fire ability, but I fear with how often he uses it the emperor will eventually find out and execute him. After all, all forms of sorcery was banned within the Empire over fifty years ago, and all potential sorcerers are supposed to be killed at birth.
