Best Teacher In The World Pt.2

Your POV

The first week of school has gone by quickly. I've gotten to know more about the kids I'm going to be teaching for the school year and they have opened up a bit more. Including Maddison.

She has become more talkative and this little sponge that absorbs everything. She's talented in the arts and has made friends in class with the similar interests.

As for Niall, I still see him twice a day, when he drops Maddison off and when he picks up. At times he would email me ahead of time to let me know he'll be running late. On those days, I'd hang out with Maddison and did artsy things, most of the time it was painting.

Today was one of those days.

"Ms.(Y/L/N)?" She asked.

"Yes, Maddy?" A few days ago, Maddison came up to me during class and asked for me to give her a nickname, I came up with Maddy. She was overjoyed with it, and ever since I've been calling her Maddy.

"Do you have gold paint?"

"Yeah, it's in the closet. I'll go get it for you." I got up from my desk where I was cutting colored paper for tomorrow's activity.

I went to the closet and grabbed the gold paint, being big to Maddy, who was diligently working in her painting.

"Here you go, Maddy."

"Thank you." She smiled and opened the small tin of paint.

"What are you painting?" I asked.

"It's a secret!" She moved the paper so I wouldn't see it.

"Okay, Maddy. I won't look." I laughed, walking back to my desk.

As I sat down, there was a knock on the door and again, I stood up and walked towards the door.

"That must be your dad."

It was.

"Hey, Niall." I smiled.

"Hey, (Y/N). How was Mads today?"

"She was great like usual, but right now she's kinda busy working on this top secret picture."

"Oh, really?" He raised his eyebrow. I nodded.

"Such a talented girl."

"Obviously a natural talent, I can't even draw a proper stick figure." Niall laughed, and so did I.

"So, how was your day?" I asked, attempting to create a longer conversation to talk more to him and also give extra time for Maddy to finish up.

"It was good, thank you for asking. Ehm. I wrote a bit and recording some stuff. Just normal day at the studio. How about you with all these kiddos?"

"Very fun. They're such bright kids, so eager to learn." I smiled at the thought.
"I honestly feel like I learn more from them."

Niall nodded and the room remained silent wth no one speaking. The only sound was the occasional pencil from Maddy and paper flowing up and down over the air conditioner.

"Are you free this weekend?"

"I'm sorry."

"It fine if you don't want to or feel like it's appropriate." He rambled.
