T'Challa furrows his eyebrows at the computer screen before him. Trying to focus on his duty, but there seems to be one thought that keeps invading his mind. Ororo. He doesn't know why he finds her so interesting. There are plenty of capable women in Wakanda that his father would definitely be more approving of. Maybe it's the way she carries herself. As if every problem is just an inconvenience and she can make them disappear with that intense stare of hers. Then there's her lips...
T'Challa sighs, pulling off his panther mask. He can't keep doing this. He's already delayed his trip back home to make sure Ororo is safe, even though his mission ended when the final warrior died. It would definitely be more comfortable to be at his palace than at a run down motel using a laptop to type up important documents.
He opens his email, of course one that is only connected to a secure Wakandan network. There's about a hundred unread messages, most of them from his royal officials. Probably wondering why his jet hasn't returned yet. He should probably just go. There's nothing left for him here. Ororo can take care of herself.
His hand hovers above the mouse pad. Maybe he should just check one more time. It's irritating how uncertain he is, he is usually never this indecisive. With another sigh he clicks and opens a new tab, ignoring his pile of emails. The screen opens with a birds eye view of a prion cell. Except this time there is no prisoner.
T'Challa types furiously on his keyboard and the view changes again to outside the prison. The camera moving around in the air attached to a microscopic drone he sent to watch Ororo. In the dark he can see her and another girl running away from a huge, blue beast, which he he already identifies as Hank McCoy. He watches helplessly as Ororo takes down the beast with a bolt of lightning. Silently cheering her on, but he's not sure if she really hit the enemy.
The drone follows her as she flies away with the other girl to a clearing in the woods, where a cloaked white jet meets them. T'Challa resists the urge to go after them, he can't interfere, not yet. So he watches. The jet takes off with the two girls and a pilot, heading eastward. Then to T'Challa's disappointment, just as they were reaching the Berkshire mountains the drone short circuits and he's disconnected.
Quickly he switches to satellite view, but there's nothing. Even the tracker he left on Ororo doesn't seem to be working. Angrily he closes the tab. This shouldn't be happening, nothing can just cause his devices to not work.
Ororo is in trouble and T'Challa has the suspicion that it might affect him as well. He needs to go find out more. However, the council wouldn't allow him to act on a suspicion. If they found out that he was surveilling her with their technology instead of coming home and putting their discretion at risk, they would tell his father. Then he would be in trouble.
T'Challa grimaces at the thought and silently prays that his father won't find out what he's about to do. He opens another tab which shows photos he from a drone following the beast from before. It takes T'Challa a moment to realize that the man standing outside the prison in a sweater vest and glasses was the Beast from before. He's holding a phone to his ear. In a couple swift key stroke T'Challa is in on the conversation as well.
"I can't believe I scared them off to the enemy like that." He complains.
Another older man's voice responds. "Yes, well we can't be disappointed Hank. Come back to the mansion. We will find away to save them soon enough."
"Yes Professor." Hank says and hangs up the phone. He gets into a small brown car and drives away. T'Challa doesn't bother continuing to watch the feed, he has already figured out where he is going. Quickly, he gears up, slipping his mask on as a finishing touch. It's time to call the X-Men.
**
Heyy hoped you like the chapter!! Sorry for the lack of action (And I know it's kind of short), don't worry the next one is a lot more action-packed!
Oh and I've started a new fan fiction. IDK if I'm going to post it or not... But stay tuned!
