When my alarm wakes me up at the cursed hour of 5:20, the first thing I feel is the dampness of my pillow from my still wet hair. Bobby's actually so annoying. We found an outdoor pool and he thought it would be a good idea to go for a swim (in the fall mind you). I said I didn't have my swim suit but he said it didn't matter and pushed me in! He couldn't stop laughing, his infectious chuckles lightening the mood.

Eventually after that we found Hank and he did some blood tests and he asked us some questions privately. Like when we first found out about our mutation and stuff like that. It was so awkward. Then Bobby and I spent the rest of the night in the parlour watching Netflix till late. Lounging on the various sofas and chairs. The worries of before dissipating away.

Now my slight grumpiness and exhaustion catches up to me, making me slightly regret staying up. However, I'm a morning person so it doesn't bother me much. I get up and do my morning stretches, then change out of my pyjamas, which are much too large, that Charles let me borrow. He let me use any of the clothes in this room, all of them slightly too big.

Whoever had this room before me had good taste and I choose an outfit for training that is both fashionable and practical. I look at myself in a stand up mirror covered in stickers of boy bands from the 80s. I'm wearing leggings and a tight, grey dry fit t-shirt. I smile, pulling my hair up into a high pony tail. I grab a sweater and tie it around my waist.

Instinctively, I reach for my bedside table, expecting my meds to be there. Magnesium Citrate, Topirimate, Vitamin B2 and Coenzyme Q10, all for my headaches. Though shockingly I haven't had single attack since I've gotten here. Hopefully skipping today and last night won't test my luck. I'll be sure to take rooibos tea at breakfast.

As soon as I've brushed my teeth in my ensuite I head downstairs to the kitchen, following the smells sweet smells of fried breakfast. I happen to meet Bobby coming out of his room at the same time, looking almost as if he just rolled out of bed. His huge green t-shirt and baggy shorts loaned from Hank not doing much to help.

"Morning."

He blinks at me with bleary eyes and yawns, definitely not a morning person. "Is that bacon I smell?" He asks rubbing his eyes with his fist. His hair is tossled with bits of frost stuck in it. For some reason I can't stop looking at his bright blue eyes.

"Uh Kitty?"

I blink. "Hmm? Oh yeah I think so."

"Then what are we waiting for? I'm starving." I'm about to voice my agreement, but I'm not sure if that will make me seem like a foodie. Though I don't think Bobby is the kind of person who actually cares about that kind of stuff, I recall the visit to the poutine place. I make a silent resolution to ditch my old resolution of ditching the old Kitty.

"Hey I'll meet you there, just forgot something in my room." I tell him. He shrugs and makes his way down stairs.

I head to my room and open up my bag lying next to my bed. In a small pocket untouched, is a small black case. Carefully I snap it open to reveal a pair of small rectangular lensed glasses. With a small moment of hesitation, remembering the years of torture they brought me, I slip them on. The band slipping into its familiar groove on my ear.

I sigh and look around my room, the world finally in focus. Then I remember breakfast and race down stairs, my stomach growling.

The sight that greets me is one that I haven't seen before, yet feels like home. Hank's standing in his pyjamas over the stove wearing an apron that says "Cooking is a Science" mid flipping a pancake. While Charles is sitting at the coffee table with Bobby, papers spread out before him and a cup of tea. Bobby raises and eyebrow at me and I resist the urge to blush, but he doesn't say anything, continuing to stuff his face with pancakes, bacon and eggs.
