Since the restaurant was in downtown, it only took around 10 minutes to get there. While Alex sang his heart out to the open sky, my mind kept wandering back to him calling me 'beautiful'.  I couldn't help but smiling, I hadn't felt this blissful feeling in a long time. Although my inner wolf didn't like it all that another male aside from my mate made me blush, I didn't care. It was my birthday, and ultimately, it would be me who'd get to decide who would make me happy; not some stupid fate that I was burdened to.

I didn't know what the restaurant looked like, but when Alex pulled up to a beautiful glass building with crystal chandeliers draped on high ceilings that made the snow look dull, and glistening marble floors that outshone the moon, I couldn't help but stare in awe.

Alex had to drag me out of the car as I kept gaping at the fancy restaurant. This went way beyond my thoughts of what it would be like.

"Didn't expect this from downtown, did you?" Alex asked. I shook my head and clutched onto his hand as he helped me over the snow covered curb. As much as I wished that he held onto my hand as a romantic gesture, it was more so that I wouldn't slip and die on the ice in my heels.

Alex smirked as I gripped onto his arm for my dear life, and he was trying to keep his laugh in. Fortunately, he remembered his manners and helped me to the front entrance gracefully. As he held open the door, a gust of warm welcoming air hugged me.

As I finally got to stare at the bright lighting and smell the fresh crisp air, I felt nothing less than a princess.

"Ms. Evans, right this way please," a man with a breathy voice called out beside me. I turned around and saw a plump, stout man, with a shiny bald head and sleek whiskers above his lips.

Alex stood beside him and motioned with his hand for me to come over.

I followed them through the long halls and passed the tables where elegant looking people dined casually, as if these were the type of places they went to everyday. I seemed to fit in, though, with my expensive dress and exquisite jewellery.

The man lead us to a long table where all of my friends sat. He left before I got a chance to thank him, so I approached the table, Alex trailing behind me.

"Woah, his head was brighter than my future," I whispered to Alex, who laughed in response. He was about to say something back, but he stopped abruptly when his eyes trailed over to the table. I followed his gaze and noticed that everyone was staring. . . at me.

Vivian's violet eyes scanned me from head to toe and nodded, as if she approved. Fox's eyebrows were slightly raised, but he looked away quickly when Vivian sharply cleared her throat. Rosalind looked like an animated Disney character with the enlightening smile she gave me. Rory's eyes widened and then she raised her eyebrows up and down.

I grinned and took a seat next to Lucy, who seemed lost in thought. She sat up straighter when she realized I had sat down next to her, and wished me a 'Happy birthday'. I tried not to wince and pretended not to notice when her jaw visibly clenched when Alex took the seat to my left.

I tried not to get lost in their thick tension and glanced at some of the guys from the pack who still stared at me. Gabriel's blue eyes glimmered ravenously when he saw me, and I heard Hunter next to him whisper, "Damn, where does she hide those legs?". I quickly looked away, as if I hadn't just heard that and then continued thanking people for the birthday wishes.

It was still hard to fathom that I had gone from being a loner at my old pack to being surrounded by people that came to celebrate me. Honestly, I wouldn't have wanted anything else for a birthday.
